  1. My brake light is never on. Then again, I think the bulb is bad. :D
  2. That article is about adjusting the drag link. But won't adjusting the drag link affect the stops? Never looked at the steering system closely yet. Are the stops built into the steering box, or are they external? If external, where are they at, and can they be adjusted?
  3. If things go as planned I should be running on Wintermark 235/75R15s with about 500 miles on them. 400 of those would be getting to Attica. Maybe at some point in the future I'll get a second set of rims so I can have all season radials for on the road, and a set of play tires just for playing.
  4. House: Actually, any show produced by Bad Hat Productions.
  5. Just replaced my track bar bracket (old one was bent and had a broken weld), track bar (ball joint was messed up/wore out on the old one) and ps lca. When I got the old one off and held it sideways, both steel bushing fell out... Now my front axle is finally centered like it should be, and hopefully no more death wobble. With the axle over 3/8" from where it was, my steering wheel is almost 1/4 turn past straight when driving straight, but it turns the same amount both directions before the stops. So the question is: what do I adjust to get the steering wheel pointing correctly? I guess the drag link could do it, but then I'd be able to turn sharper one direction than the other, right? So that leaves either the steering wheel itself, or where the shaft hooks up to the steering box, if that even is adjustable. Next up (probably this weekend) is the gas tank.
  6. Who besides me is bringing a stock MJ? As in no lift, no lockers. Heck not even skid plates in my case; have to be careful going over rocks.
  7. As far as my truck goes, the passenger seat is fine. I just need the pedestal for the driver's side. When I have nothing to do on a Saturday, or have a Friday off again, I'm gonna try to make it back to the yard and get the pedestal out from under that bench. Since it is pretty much buried, I expect that truck will be there for a while to come, unlike their Cherokees (about 20 of them) that they rotate through in about a month.
  8. If only I knew that a few weeks ago. My ds seat has no brackets any more. Completely rotted away. The local jy has a rotted away Comanche that's been tucked in a corner and looks like it's been there for a few years. I didn't look at it too long because it has a bench seat. I was going to try to make an adapter plate to make XJ brackets fit, but if the benches use the same brackets as the buckets, I guess I'll go back and take the brackets off it instead.
  9. There is a local club here that actually holds lawn tractor and ATV pulls. You'd be amazed what some of those lawn tractors can pull. Most popular setup in the 12HP lawn tractor class is a Ford 9" with a Steiner engine. Only 12 HP, but unbelievable torque at extremely low RPM. Toward the end the tires are twisting, the front end is coming up and the engine bogged down to about 400 RPM still continues to pull the sled. Most ATVs are trikes with 400 HP V8s in them. The complete opposite end of the spectrum.
  10. Not necessarily. A 2wd with a locker has as many drive wheels as a 4x4 with open difs. And going uphill when you need the traction, weight gets transferred toward the rear axle. I have seen a K10 with locker and removed front ds (after it broke) have less trouble on the trail than an FJ40 with open difs.

    WI emission laws

That's a Comanche. These are very rare collector's cars and should be in a museum... I agree, that one probably should have been scrapped a long time ago.
  12. When I first bought my truck it had a rattle under the hood. Popped the hood and noticed the water pump pulley was wobbling. I remember the PO telling me he had recently replaced the water pump and radiator because they got damaged from when he hit a deer. Turned out only half the screws were there.
  13. Having lived in The Netherlands for the first 16 years of my life I will agree with that. Highway police in The Netherlands is never friendly. Congrats on your find.
  14. After driving 100 miles today to get a pile of parts off Wildman, I got 6 gallons of gas on the way back for $3.399 per gallon. Oh and 21 mpg for the entire 217 mile trip. Not bad for a Renix 4.0/automatic.
  15. Looks and sounds like you need an exocage. Sure looks like fun!
  16. "Spaceballs! There goes the planet...." or "Suck, suck, suck, suck...."
  17. All radiators I have seen with plastic tanks, the metal is crimped around the plastic lip to hold it on, with a rubber seal in between. Unlike the old radiators with brass tanks soldered on, the ones with plastic tanks can not be repaired. Good thing is, most large chain parts stores (like Advance, Autozone etc.) offer a lifetime warrantee on the radiator, so you only pay for it once.

    Jeep abuse?

  19. Metric tire sizes are not rocket science. P235/75R15 P (passenger car) rated, this is a 4 ply tire. Other common one is LT for Light Truck; these come in 6, 8 or 10 ply depending on load range C, D or E. 235 is the width of the tire (not the tread, though) in millimeters. There are 25.4mm in one inch. 75 is the height of the tire as a percentage of the width, 70 and 75 are quite common. Low profile tires usually range from 50 to 60, but I have seen 40. Some skinny tall tires can come in 85. R means Radial ply. Older tires sometimes were B for Bias ply, but these are quite rare nowadays. 15 is the rim size, but not metric. This one is in inches. That concludes todays lesson. :chillin:
  20. If I Remember Correctly. :D
  21. So you called yourself?
  22. What pipes? You mean our trucks are supposed to have an actual exhaust system going somewhere from the engine? Dang! Now I know why mine seems a little loud. :D
  23. If they are the same length, then what is different about them?
  24. Already PMed you like 10 minutes ago...
  25. I am not anywhere near ready to lift my Jeep yet, I'm still working on making it a reliable DD. But, eventually I will. So since an XJ is spring over (I believe), what all is involved in doing a SOA on an MJ using an XJ axle? Is it easier than using the MJ axle, cutting off the spring mounts and welding on new perches? Also, since our springs are meant to sit below the axle, how bad of a problem is axle wrap with the axle sitting below the springs?
