They will add ~2" of lift to a 4.0. BUT, I was at the UPAP at 66th and Broadway today and there is an XJ there with 4.5" RE coils in it that may be worth more of an effort :brows: . I didn't pull them because I didn't have the tools and I already have those exact coils in my truck right now. Its on an XJ in the very first row. I have loved the way mine ride since I put them in about a month ago.

Yes. Its not even a XJ wheel mounted on a XJ column, the ZJ column has a different level for the tilt, is smaller, and only has one control stalk. This is very clearly a 96-98ZJ column. um. you have NO idea what you're talking about here dudely. I've seen that wheel in 2000 and 2001 XJ's, though none were stock jeeps so it is possible they were swapped (however unlikely) for ZJ wheels/airbags. But, that column is DEFINITELY an xj column. I have the same, identical column in my comanche from a 1995 cherokee. they didn't change much, if at all after that. cherokees never had dual stalk columns either...always single stalk, just as the one in the picture is. the other "stalk" you see is the tilt adjuster. not to start animosity...just pointing out the truth. Your both wrong (man I don't get to say that very often :rotfl2:). Jeepco, you are right, the 95-96XJ's did have that column, so did ZJ's, however.Sir sam is correct in the fact that dual stalk columns were in all XJ's that were 97+, there is the turn signal/highbeams on the left side of the wheel, and the windshield wipers on the left side stalk.

Got a new Front driveshaft and fixed the bad noises coming out of it!
-
I agree with Sam. The ZJ's have a 3 spoke wheel and the XJ's have a 2 spoke wheel.

So I don't get to see a giant pile of money? :hmm: :D

pinion bearing?

DD, weekend wheeler, work truck. Much much better than the F250 for all of the above.

The only way to tell for sure is to pull the cover and check. General rule of thumb is that 97+ has 29 spline and I've heard that some 96's had 29 spline but the one I got didn't and it was out of a 96.

:rotfl2: It had to do with somehow leaving it in Drive at the top of a steep hill with the engine running and no handbrake on. She claims that she realized that she forgot something inside and got out to go get it and just forgot that the car was in drive. :shake:

:hijack: How do you remove the centering yoke? Does it just pull off with the top DC ujoint out? :dunno:

Mine rolled 140,000 this week. It had 124,562 when I bought it. And it has come a long way in that short amount of time. My sisters 92XJ was at 385,000 when it hit a tree (not sure how she did that one, but she wasn't in the car when it happened, nobody was).

My 15mm socket fell into the frame of my truck while doing the UCA's yesterday. fortunately there is a tiny little hole just past the LCA mount that when I peeked through, I saw the socket. Then I was able to shove a magnetic pickup through the UCA access hole and grab it. EDIT: Pete if your 15mm has been in there awhile try getting up to speed and slamming on the brakes the get the socket to roll to the front of the frame, then grab it with a pick up tool!

Hey Yellaheep, are you in CO? I swear I saw you on Eagle rock with NAXJA last year when I was running Saran Wrap with the Rockfrogs.

I run a cheap cobra 19 ultra 3. I have a hood mount and ran the cable through the fender and through a small hole that was already there and into the cab. I have it paired up to a Firestic 3' antenna. I need to get it tuned, but other than that, its great.
-
Yeah, you will need to move the perches. Why would you want 3.73s instead of 4.10s. Don't you already have 4.10's with the 2.5?

Did that 98 have manual or power windows? Did it have the standard or "hockey puck" armrests? I need to get a new door panel for the 97 with manual windows and the standard armrests.

For me, I haven't ever scraped on my gas tank skid either. I'd just rather not be trail fixing my gas tank if I do land on a rock. ;)

 Wish I could be doing that. Yesterday I installed the 1" coil spacers that Comanche County gave me, put in the new 5" shocks, and started looking at getting the rounded UCA frame side bolts out. Today, I found out that my floors are starting to rust. Drivers side is dry and has surface rust, Pass side is wet and has no rust. :dunno:
-
The bolt that is rounded off is the frame side bolt that has the head recessed into the frame, with an access hole to get to it. Also, on another note, don't drop your socket into that hole, it takes like 30mins with a magnetic pickup tool to get it out. :headpop: I might go get one of those #7 removers, Thanks for the advice CW.

You would think that there are lots of those things out there, and there are, but not a lot for sale from what I've found. It took me a long time trying to find a 29 spline before I settled for the 27 spline and payed for the re-gear. If I had a longer time frame to get the axles done I probably would have waited until I found one to swap it in. But overall, the 4.10s have made it worth every penny for me. EDIT:Also, as far as it being a C clip axle is concerned; as long as you carry a spare axle shaft with you on trail runs there is nothing to worry about IMO. Question: On the 8.25, is the passenger side shaft the same length/dimensions as the driver shaft. Should I carry both a driver and a passenger spare with me on trail runs? Or are they interchangeable?
-
I will try a grinder on it then. Quick question though. What is the hose/fitting that is attached at the end of the Driver side UCA bolt. and how do you remove that bracket. I'm afraid that I will hit it with the cutoff wheel with it on there.

Pulled up the passenger vinyl mat of my MJ this afternoon, And found the entire floor and pad to be soaking wet. I then decided to pull the drivers side up and found it to be dry but has some surface rust starting. A year ago there was no rust. The passenger side is rust free luckily but I know that the clock is ticking. What is the best option for fixing this? Anyone know where I can get the pad that goes under the carpet? What all is involved with POR 15ing the floor? I will have to do all of this on a weekend as this is a DD. I also need to find where the water is getting in from to keep this from happening again. I bet it is from the door/window weather stripping.

My UCA attachment bolt heads are rounded off. I think that a nut splitter would be best to get the bolts out since I have new bolts with the new control arms. My question is, will a cheap manual nut splitter work for this? Don't have the money for a hydraulic one at the moment.

I try to keep mine clean, but I like to keep some of the basic wheeling tools in the truck at all times (straps, fire extinguisher, tire deflators, air compressor soon to be replaced with CO2 tank) that makes it hard to keep it organized. I think I might organize it into some bins so it isnt just floating behind the seat though.

That SX/4 is NICE. I would love to have one. AMC, style, and the 258 all make it a great car. Anyone know of a cheap one in the Denver area?
