Umm.... I hate to make waves (not really, I love it), but if that first pic, with the rust colored diff cover is your front (which I know it is, since I see the tie-rod), it's not a Dana 30... That is a D44 Cover (same exact shape as the rear D44)... Unless I've had a few too many BL Limes... This is what my D30 Axle looks like, and that pic ain't this...

If you haven't already, check the cowl drains. (Pop off the wipers, and remove the cowl plate, about six small screws. Underneath, there will be a drain hole, about 1" diameter, on each side.) If they fill up with leaves n crap, the water will puddle up and drain back into the cab. You wouldn't think so, but it can put a LOT of water into the Jeep... Good luck! Robert I had the Cowl plate off today... I didn't see anything that even resembled a drain hole ... there is no-gunk of any kind in the cowl area, but maybe I just don't know what i'm supposed to be looking at.

I think that dude is on here..pretty sure he has a lo-build thread somehwere...

Looks REALLY clean inside...no rust, not much dirt or muck at all... I already put it all back together but will dump some water one... already ordered a new Cowl Seal and used some RTV silicone inside where I think the water was coming in... Sw2

What should I be looking for If I pull the Cowl Cover thing under the wipers off? Is there a "drain" or something that can get clogged causing problems? Wade

 WOW...I figured the west coast folks would be a 3 day ride. The USPS has really pumped it up lately and they are doing a great job. I have had First Class stuff get from coast to coast in 3-4 days recently. I bought a Sandisk Sansa e250 MP3 player on Monday...shipped First Class from California it got here yesterday. Yup, mine made it to the left coast today also... will try to get my munchkin's to try them on and take a pic...size looks good! Wade -

Is there "gasket" type material on the bracket thing where the steering column comes through the firewall... it appears, at least on the driver side water dripping from there, any maybe behind the fuse box... still need to check the cowls...

Installing New Speedo Gear
SuperWade2 replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
WOO HOO! Just went for a spin around the block... I have speedo again.. a BIG thanks to everyone that helped and put up with my continuous barrage of questions... It's not even the first Speedo Gear I've replaced... my TJ was MUCH more straight forward, and I think there was a mark on the T-Case that made the alignment "dummy proof", although this dummy, maybe not so much... I need to GPS to see how close it is, but I expect within a MPH or 2... On a side note, with the 4.10's, First Gear hits 2500RPM at right at 15mph...so depending on what RPM I shift at, somewhere between 12-16 mph before I shift to 2nd... Maybe this thread will be useful to someone else down the road (thus why I like to post as many pics as possible...
