Hard to say. And I think what we may have learned here was this: many people assumed that if an 87+ MJ had a D44 it automatically had the MT pkg. Not true. Now, if you have the factory tow pkg, yes, you automatically had the D44. My truck is an example of that, and I also have the window sticker supporting that info. So, what I think is logical, the same "rules" applied in '86, the only difference being the HD axle was the AMC20 and not the D44, which replaced the 20 as the MJ's HD axle starting in '87. So, you still may hold the answer to the $64,000 question: does that truck have a factory tow pkg? :popcorn: Factory D44 on my 89 (Per Build Sheet), No MT Package, No Tow Package

The ground clearance itself would be a big issue (plus the install stuff that LnF mentioned)... Unless you are going pretty big tires...35+ I would guess... I know a guy in our club had D60's on a TJ with 35's and there wasn't much room between the ground and the bottom of the pumpkin...he's gone up to 38's I think now. SW2

It just seemed they had reviewed everything else at the right times though out the game, either by challenges or inside of 2:00 minutes. At the biggest game of the year, why wouldn't you at least take the extra time to just MAKE sure... Probably a 1 in a 10,000 chance that it would have made a difference had they had one more shot, but still, I think the game was called pretty well expect for that. UofP only took 66 credits of mine, they said some started to expire after 12 years or whatever...I had over 100 in "real" college too I'm not in a class right now, but need to start back this month (Feb). I honestly try very little and have got all A's...and I'm not that smart... The teams are the worst part... I have had some teams that I fully believe was 100% retarted...I think the education I'm getting is "so-so" at best, and what you get for the $$$ isn't a good value...BUT... Well, already got the Once Piece conversion done up front on my axle but... One of the guys in my club said he might have some stuff that would be of use... He has a yard full of XJ stuff, so he might have a D30 front with 4.10's laying around already. He's on vacation now, but I will check with him when he gets back. Another guy said he had a D44 True Trak that he wasn't using...said he didn't have gears for it, but that might be a start for the rear if I just wanted to get the rest of the stuff. There is another guy who has done hundreds of R&P installs who said he would help me out if I wanted to try to do the install. I think he has a Rack in his garage/barn, so getting under there would be extra easy. SW2

That is correct :thumbsup: So would be a R&P Set, New Carriers, and Install Kits (and then Locker if I decided to add that) for each axle... I don't think there is any way any of my local PnP's are giving whole Axles for anything near $130, PingPong...$300-$400 is typical costs for Axles around here in the JY's, which is a total ripoff, but everything seems higher out here on the Left Coast...

BUT, I thought my 3.07 carrier would not work for 3.73/4.10 gears? I was thinking I would need to get a new open carrier even if I went without the Aussie.
