wheel stud knurl interference question
Blue XJ replied to A-man930's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I used stock ones with my Alloy USA rear shafts, I couldn't get them in. I froze the studs and heated the flange with a MAP torch, ended up bending a ball joint press trying to get them in. I ended up taking a file and filing down the knurled part a little until I could press them in. -
I was the high bidder for a while, but wasn't at my computer when it ended so I lost.

Some may sell for $100k+, but they aren't in the condition yours is. How much money will it take to get it to the shape of one worth 100k?

Looks good, I have those same wheels, I'll have to try polishing them up. What was the name of the source online for those lights? I could use a set of them.

That was his truck, did you buy that from Josh?

You don't live in Michigan do you? That sure looks like the MJ that one of the guys in my club used to have.

If you just said 4.0, I'd say you won. You beat me too! I wasn't even thinking of the newer ones. When I hear Liberty I just think of the KJ.

Nope, never made one. Just the 3.7

the tape was there to seal the door up, its the only tape i could find in my garage :D :D the lid does not hit the cb, at least i don't think it does, never really noticed. the cb is getting relocated overhead once i make the mounting bracket to mount it to the cage. -

I made it myself, I took a second hood and took the outer skin off of it, cut it to the correct shape, bent the edges down and then welded it on. I also cut out the old hood under the area of the scoop, it is fully functional and you can see the heat pouring out of the back of the hood all the time. I plan on adding more tube to it, plus tying it into the exterior portion the cage when I get that far. Its the XJ cage that most people use, so it can't be that bad of a spot to start from. -

There are 4"x4" feet plates welded to the floor above the frame rails for the b-pillar feet. For the a-pillar feet, there are 5x5" feet plate welded to the floor, and when I get a chance, there will be a foot plate on the underside of the floor that will get bolted to the inside one, then a piece of tube from that plate to the mounting arm of my rock rail, which is welded to the frame. -

I don't have a whole lot of info on the cage, but its a D&C Extreme XJ cage. They gave me a heck of a deal on buying just the b pillar forward. The seat belt bar didn't fit, I'll have to make a new one, I ended up using it for the windshield spreader to gain a little more head room. I plan on putting a tube between the a pillar and b pillar along the floor, then tying the seats into it. On the under side, I will tie the feet plates into the rock rails. Then make a matching b pillar hoop and some down bar to put in the bed behind the cab. -

haven't done electric fans yet, I don't see a need too. the stock ones are working great and I don't go through too much mud/water with it that I would need to shut them off. The reason its Blue XJ is from my last Jeep.. Most of the parts on the MJ are from it actually.. -

its got a 4.7l stroker in it, I built it 3 or 4 years ago, still running strong, but with the upgrade in tire size, i feel like i want to regear again. the cage is a d&c extreme cage for an xj that was slightly modified to fit. I'm not done with it yet, but the inside of the cab portion is complete. I'm heading out of town for work in the morning, when I get back I'll post some more pics of the cage and of the motor build. :D -

I always liked the look of the newer XJ front ends on MJ's so I decided to swap mine over. Got most of the parts dirt cheap locally, had to buy a couple online though. I also switch to synthetic winch line and a hawse fairlead. Before: After: what do ya think? -
10 inch brakes on an 8.25.
Blue XJ replied to Geonovast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When I swapped to discs I used them from a D35, the backing plate mounting holeswere just a little off, I had to enlarge one of the holes to get them to fit, along with opening up the center holes as well, since the tube is a bigger diameter. I would assume if you did both of those things on the D35 drums, they would bolt right up. -
The stores by me won't return tool if they are rusty, or if they are damaged due to rust.

What happened to all the people that said they would buy these?
