  1. found an awesome deal on some cooper stts, just curious how it will sit, thanks guys
  2. Sharp truck! I don't know how I feel about that topper... haha but looks a lot like the direction I plan on taking with my 86! :clapping:
  3. Hey, let's see those longbeds! I haven't come across too many pictures of them.
  4. Thanks a lot guys, very useful information. Since the MJ is a 4 spd.. one more stupid question.. as far as swapping in the 5 spd from a 4x4 donor truck.. is it just plug and play? or will that need some sort of wiring? I've never really handled a project quite this big.. just trying to get it all together in my head. thanks guys
  5. no idea what text speak is.. so apologies.. and.. not tons of highway driving.. maybe 30-45 minute trips max on the highway.. also i know this has probably already been discussed 500 times.. but while I'm on here.. may as well be THAT guy.. and ask if theres a lot of wiring involved with the 2wd to 4wd swap
  6. So.. I have a poor, tired 86.. It hasn't had a rough life.. but it has sat for years now. It used to be my dads truck, yearss back.. but then he gave it to me... Well... not knowing what I had.. it kind of got set aside.. and I got a newer car and haven't really looked at it since. it's been about 6 or 7 years probably.. so anways.. I have been thinking seriously about it lately.. and I have some plans for the ole' girl. I am a bodyman.. so none of that is a problem at all.. and am somewhat mechanically inclined.. but am also not greatly educated in that area.. haha.. I'm basically just asking for everyones opinion on what i should do or if they think this would be a decent set up.. I'm not looking to make it a mud truck.. but It will be offroad from time to time.. nothing too extreme.. just a little fun in the mud.. I plan on pulling the 2.5 and rebuilding it... hopefully finding a donor 4x4 5 spd xj and swapping the tcase and tranny over to the manche. Could I swap axles too? or are the stock 89-mid 90s xj axles janky? well i plan on doin that.. liftin maybe 3-4 or 5 inches.. and runnin 31s or 32s. does this sound sort of legit to any1? this is a terrible post i realize.. haha I'm sorry
  7. do you use a paintbrush to spread the POR15 or did you spray it on?
  8. Hey guys.. New member... been lurking around on here.. and ok I admit it, I'm hooked on my old comanche. I'm from Illinois.. and grew up driving the 86 long bed 2.5 2wd 4 spd comanche my dad gave to me.. Well time went on.. got new cars.. bl ablabla.. well now I want the comanche back.. Only problem is.. the truck is in Illinois.. I'm in Alabama.. I work in a body shop down here..so restoring it is callllllling my name! I know what yall are thinkin.. just go up there and drive it down.. well she's not in the greatest shape.. and the tires are completely shot..my dad isn't too mechanically inclined.. so asking him to inspect it is just out of the question. Not to mention my parents both think I'm insane for wanting to try and drive the thing to AL. I just recently got in touch with an old friend from college that happens to have a set of early 90s cherokee wheels with newish tires for $150. It's on! I plan on catchin' a flight home at the end of march.. by then I'll have enough $ saved for the flight, wheels, and.. unfortunately the misc. parts I'm sure I'll need to pick up to repair the poor jeep. (It's been sitting for about 2 yrs) I'm a little nervous to make the trec.. its about 10 hrs.. I'm gunna say 12 in the truck.. I'm planning on taking it realll nice and slow. But... screw it.. I'm young.. why not attempt the drive right? take some hand tools.. bailing wire.. case of oil and coolant and surely I'll be good. Anyways.. sorry for the kind of worthless post.. I don't even have the thing yet.. but I was too excited to keep to myself! Here are some shatty quality before pictures of her.
  9. my poor stock 86 i4 2wd 4 spd. Plans on restoring it.. ( I work in a body shop ) but the truck is at my parents house in Illinois.. and I live in Alabama now.. So there enlies a problem.. I'm a little scared to drive it 11 hrs down here..she's only got 114k on the clock.. but the tires are shot I'm pretty sure.. anyways.. here a few pics of her.
