You guys (AC and Nate) both have standards it looks like from your links, Just grab the brake pedal assembly from a newer XJ with the switch. All you have to do is connect the two wires from the newer brake switch. Look here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6611 It shows how jeff did it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Che ... 2a0d1c4d6a Says he has 10 or is this the one designed for a carb

If you have a standard you can just switch the brake pedal from the 96 and use the newer style brake switch. If you have an automatic (like me) it is a little more difficult. On an auto the brake pedal bracket has the shift lock cable running thru it, the newer 96 doesnt since the XJ is a floor shift. My solution was to swiych my column shift to a floor shift and use the 96 brake pedal assembly with the newer style brake switch.

My daughter has one too. Must be a different year tho, yours seems to have some different options. Your daughter will love it, mine does.

4 cyl auto is very rear. I thought they came with 4:56 gears. That is a nice truck. If the price wasnt so rediculous, just maybe.

Is your name really Mel Lester? If so, it must have been torture growing up.

If I'm reading this right, you have the big ugly tow style mirrors that bolt to the door. Is this correct? Do you just want to switch to the reg smaller mirrors? or do you want to switch to the newer 97+ style?

starts and runs but dies when driving

Check the vacuum lines on the EGR valve. TRy pulling the line on the egr and see if it runs better. -
Fuel pump/wiring issues......I just keep trying
maddzz1 replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Check for a loose/broken wire over near the battery and fusible links. Next time it won't start, try messing with those wires and see if it starts. -
Hoses and vacuum lines. Where can I get them?
maddzz1 replied to kickstarted's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
And at NAPA it was only like $20 for each half. -
Thats probably the only one in the country. You would think Jeep would have actually spent a little money and designed a different bumper for the winch option. Instead of just tacking on some extra stuff to fill in the gaps.

There is a "fix" put out by Jeep to fix it if it is the hinge pulling away from the truck. Its like a reinforcement that is bolted on. Someone will post the part#

finally got fuel pressure, but still no run.
maddzz1 replied to snacob14's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sorry, It was Bluemoon. He added something about his truck into your thread and I thought it was you. Any chance your cat is clogged? -
I'm not positive, but I think it is just something that plugs into the fuse box (like the chime module).

When I switched my cluster my speedo didnt work either. Somehow, I managed to get the needle for the speedo behind the little stopper (the little plastic piece near the 0mph mark the needle falls to when you turn the truck off). I had to remove the clear plastic and move the needle back to the other side of the little plastic stopper.

-Pleading no contest is the same as pleading guilty. It basically means that you agree that if you went to trial the state has enough evidence to find you guilty. -don't worry about the past ticket. That prosecutor sees so many people I'm sure he doesnt remember you. - Definately bring pictures of the bed of the truck. I have beaten tickets 2x, and both times it was because of the pictures. -Traffic court is NOTHING like criminal court. -I would argue that it was designed for carrying passengers, and the fact that you were on campus. Is this regualr traffic court or is it different because it was on campus and not a public street?

91+ use an elec speedo, pre 91 use an mechanical speedo. Do you still have the old gauge cluster in?
-
-Motor mounts on these arent bad to replace. The pass. side is a little more of a problem because the bolt will hit the oil filter. Remove oil filter and sometimes even the oil filter adapter. -If swapping to an HO you are better off buying a complete XJ donor. You have to swap all wiring. Then you still have to splice the XJ front harness to the rear MJ harness (theres a write-up in the DIY section), then you will need a fuel sending unit from a 91-92 MJ which arent made anymore. You can use the renix one but your fuel gauge will read backwards from what Ive read. -I get between 14-16 MPG -Our trucks normally take a while to turn over since everytime you start the truck the ECU needs to learn the position of the fly wheel since it isnt stored.

I upgraded to the 95-96 XJ booster. No affect on the rear valve. -
Four Wheeler of the Year Limited Edition Comanche?
maddzz1 replied to beepbeepmyredjeep's topic in The Pub
command trac just means it has a 231 transfer case. It does have the PRND21 mounted on the column, very strange unless it was added after market -

Failed inspection: floor rot
maddzz1 replied to jeepcoma's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
These ones look nice but are pricey. http://www.teamcherokee.com/Body_Parts/index.html I think you do need the front and rear section even if its for the MJ. I don't think the front goes all the way back from some of the pics Ive seen of people who've used them. -
Failed inspection: floor rot
maddzz1 replied to jeepcoma's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm also gonna have to get mine done. I need front and rear pans for both sides. Ill probally buy the XJ pans either from C2C or teamcherokee and just pay to have the work done after I strip the interior.
