How old is that in US? I don't know the exchange rate right now. 26 here.

I expected a completely different kind of 'lovin'. :brows:

I want to do it, but I get an error every time I make one. What am I doing wrong?

I'm sorry to hear about your dog. Glad it was quick. I had an Aussie a few years ago and I loved that dog. My dad was on his way home from work and saw a guy in his back yard putting down a litter, so he whipped into the guys yard, ran back and took the last 2 puppies from him. I have an APBT now, and I don't think I'll ever buy another breed of dog. She's really smart, really well behaved, and very protective of our daughter, but not aggressive. She also knows how to use a standard round doorknob.

Actually I'll kind of do both. I put them on the 86 and move them by hand. On the 88, they will be electric and will use the stock mirror controls from the pre-97 XJs. And moving them by hand works fine for you? I'll most likely do it that way, since wiring is already going to be a big job. Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I moved my XJ mirrors, so as long as I won't strip anything out, I'll give them the hand job. ;)

It's funny, my first thought was a rock tumbler. Maybe let them soak in some pb blaster and hit them with some light sandpaper.

Center Console *Write up with Pictures*
Hawk replied to 88XJSport's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Nice clean install. I've got one ready to go in my MJ when I get to the interior. Are those consoles hard to dig up? I know where a grey one just like that is that I could grab. Really nice shape, in a 96. -
And to think, I tried to type "$#!&" in a thread earlier, and it filtered it to "poo"....irony be a cruel mistress, yarrr.
-
All it's missing is a fitting hood mural....
-
Well, have a great trip. We'll try not to $#!& up the place while you're gone.
-
I would also like to see more pics of the hood. I like the look of the 18 inch wheels.

I emptied my entire tool shed out onto the back lawn last night. It looked like a flea market threw up out there, then threw 20% away, 20% on a pile for recycling steel/aluminum, 20% in the back of my truck for a friend's parts lot because it's all xj/mj parts nobody will want (like 4 airbag sensors for xj's, and a full turd-brown interior for MJ). The rest is staying, as it's parts for the XJ that I need to get installed, right next to parts for the MJ that aren't ready to be installed yet, all surrounding my riding mower. Anyway, the reason I did it, was that I needed space to safely store the rest of my parts that aren't ready to go on the 'manche, so I can get my garage cleared out...so I can take more MJ stuff apart...so I can eventually start putting MJ stuff back together. It is good to be Spring!

Awesome, thank you for that link. Looks like my wife might be able to get some web-design work with them too, ha ha. :typing:

Yesterday I cleaned up dash parts and pulled all the extra stuff off the engine so I can send it off to the shop. Today I'm pulling brake parts off a newer donor XJ.

I have a buddy that does fiberglass work, and he's itching to get to work on my dash, so I'm going that route. The panel I made went vertical, and the bezel and door trim both go horizontal. I just think it'd be too much wood. I'm pulling parts from a 95 XJ country right now, I just wish the black console insert was wood like the other stuff. Either way, I'm a looooong way off from putting the interior in it. I just now stripped it to a rolling chassis, saving up for a wiring harness. On the bright side, I have all the time in the world to work on the little stuff. Will a can of satin rustoleum work for the engine compartment?

I pulled my bed off easily without pulling the bumper...Is there somewhere on yours where it's connected? It was a really easy thing, took about an hour, and only 2 guys to lift it off and set it aside.

I turned my google filter off, hoping for some dirtier pictures I could tell you guys about, but there were none. So here.

Still plenty you can do with a 327, and still plenty of power for a little truck like that :brows:

Those are some really good pictures, summerinmaine. I mostly just use mine to take up space in the carport, garage, and tool shed all at once. I tried to drive it to work one time, back in stock configuration, and it didn't wanna.

That's pretty funny. I don't have any tool stories, but on the subject of metal retrieval, I had a metal shard bounce off my nose and hit me in the eyeball, bypassing my safety glasses. I tried snagging it with a tissue, and tried flushing it and it wouldn't move. I was starting to panic, because I freak out when stuff touches my eyes (It's like what chewing tin foil does to some people). As a last ditch effort, before the ride to the hospital, I used my little telescoping magnet, watched myself in the mirror, and when it got about this | | far away from it, that little chip flew out of my eye and stuck to the magnet. It was the third happiest day in my life (I'm a husband and a father). On edit-I pulled out onto the highway with a full craftsman socket set standard/metric with nut drivers of each variety, and wrenches sitting on the tonneu cover of my truck :wall:

First time I ever saw one with column shift. Very cool truck, man.

Well, almost a year since I started on this thing, and I'm still basically where I was when I started. I've been focusing all our extra money towards paying off debt (paid off our only vehicle loan, our $4500 credit card, and some money that my parents had helped us with), but now I'm laid off. Paying the bills with what the wife makes + my unemployment, but I can't bring myself to spend money on this thing, so I've just been cleaning. This weekend I got the engine pulled back out of it, all the brake lines, fuel lines, and wiring pulled out, and the dash and steering column. I went to a buddy's junk yard and got the rest of the interior parts I needed from a 95 XJ country, so when I finish it, the interior will be all black, except for the dash, door panels, and console, which will be that off-white color, with the woodgrain dash bezel and the little trim pieces on the doors. I don't think two-tone will look to bad in it, all the pieces I have now are in perfect shape. Next move will be to borrow my dad's power washer and start degreasing/washing the grease off the whole thing so I can paint the underside and engine compartment up nice and clean. I'm also planning on using a complete aftermarket wiring kit, because I'm tired of scratching my head and trying to make the factory wiring look clean and be functional at the same time. If any of you have tips on where I should start looking for one of those (and exactly what to look for) I'd appreciate it. I'll post pics later this week if it warms up outside. It was nice this weekend, but turned crappy pretty quick.
