  1. I think your right on the tag swap... No the covers are in NO WAY interchangeable. BTW, MJ may have never gotten a LS up fromt but Jeep made them and offered them in the D30 in the WJ line. I had one!! Its the one the wife rolled last year. LS front and rear AND full time 4WD!!! CW
  2. Some of the grand waggys had it as well... look in the glove box. CW
  3. NICE.. I haven't seen the mall since I took you there...... This happened at the Linens & Things two weeks ago when they had that sale on doyles!! There was no parking until Martha left and I had to make a quick move to get her vacant spot. Get your facts straight!! :D CW
  4. That was MY wife!! She totaled the WJ last September... To date, she hasn't "modified" the Libby yet. Lets hope she DOSENT!!! ;) Glad to hear everyone is fine!! CW
  5. TANKS MAN!! Couldn't remember for sure if it was 1/4 or 5/16. Didn't want to buy wrong ones...not that common a sized to need extras hanging around. Besides only the bottom 4 or so are trashed. I'll replace them all and have the top ones as spares... CW
  6. Not that I know of. The carrier for a LS is is set up way different and there is too few of them made for a manufacurer to tool up to fit make a lunch box to them. ESP when you consider the easy of attaining and the vast numbers of open carrier's. With the design of fact LS and the clutches involved, it dosen't lend itself to the design. CW
  7. Yup, I say pan I mean, diff cover. :D  CW
  8. Yes, all will interchange with in XJ,MJ,TJ,YJ, & ZJ. All are 27 spline and same length, regardless. WJ went to CV style, but even those should work although I never tried them. (Jeep thought/thinks CV's are quieter/smoother.) Only diff is some where tow piece and some one piece. IE TJ/ZJ's where all one piece. While XJ are some of each. YJ's always two piece, but changed to 297 joints sometime around 1995. CW
  9. Anyone know for sure the size bolts hold the pan on a D44 in a MJ/XJ? I'd like to replace mine as they have gotten quite ground up/off. Thanks, CW
  10. DEFINEATELY, DEFINEATELY, You MUST use the stub shaft!!!! You need to find a way to retain the fluid. But limited use you should be fine. Remember, The hubs WILL NOT stand it very long with out the stub shaft!! Could be VERY DANGEROUS on the road if one let go on you!!! CW
  11. Just let it be known..... SOME vehicles smoke like the dickens when you start them back up. TELL THE NEIGHBORS ITS OK!!!! I LOVE the stuff, nothing but good results from its use. BUT depending on how dirty/deposits there, will determine how much smoke you get. CW
  12. My thought EXACTLY!! CW
  13. Congratulations man!!! (And mom!) CW
  14. My pop had two of them when I was a kid. Bought them brand new!! Pretty neat until the "O" rings went and we got gassed out..... I hadn't seen one in decades. Then just the other day I saw one at a local watering hole... CW
  15. You boys need a beer education... First off beer doesn't EVER see fruit, unless you are one or you squat to pee. I prefer it a bit on the dark side with a good head on it, served in a frosty tall glass. My first choice for the past year or so has been Killian's. New castle brown ale & Bass is also very good. Guinness is too much for me. It is more like a a meal in a bottle. I cannot drink Bud products. They give me an instant head ache. Someone told me they are from rice. I think they fall under whats commonly referred to as Man Laws. :brows:  :D CW
  16. I am in total agreement with Eagle. he is spot on with his assessments on DW. I don't say that to "gang up" on anyone, we all learn new things everyday. But in reflection to your post Blhtaz, I feel your missing the point. Your tightening/replacing of track bars DID cure the death wobbles, I am very sure. But the loose/worn track bar doesn't CAUSE the DW. A Pot hole, tire balance, worn brake rotor, something else initiated DW. It showed that potential loose/worn parts exist. You looked at a known problem area and corrected it. DW is all about harmonics. Think of an infinity sign. Ideally the "point" you want is the intersection of lines or the very center. When you get DW your steering/front end is all over the infinity sign. Its almost like its never going to stop until you do. something is pushed/pulled to one side only to have something else push it back only to have it again pulled etc.... Here is a couple quick scenarios; In a jeep with all good/new components, Everything is fine driving down the road. Then you hit a bump the springs rebound and the shocks dampen and you continue on with little issue. In a Jeep with a worn track bar, Everything is fine driving down the road. Then you hit a bump the springs rebound and the shocks dampen and all of a sudden a violent uncontrollable shaking begins and very rapidly increases until you jamb on the brakes to stop and everything is fine. You get out look around certain you are going to see all the wheels have fallen off and you jeep is trashed. But you find nothing. You get back in and drive. As long as you don't hit any bumps or dips nothing else happens. In a Jeep with a worn track bar AND out a balance tires, Everything is normal, you accelerate down the road. Everything is fine on small town roads where the speed is lo, say 25. but as soon as you get out on an open road, BAM, about 45mph you again get the violent shaking. Sometimes its cured by a quick stab of the brake pedal, sometimes it takes a full stop. But it reappears EVERYTIME you reach about 40MPH or hit a bump/dip in the road. There are MANY things that cause DW, this is merely a few of them. I hope this sheds some new light of this DW topic. CW
  17. My MJ bacame an entirely different vehicle with the addition of Bilstien 5150 shocks!!! NIGHT and DAY improvement.  CW
  18. This is what I remember as well. TJ coil's are shorter for the same lift as XJ/MJ coils are. CW
  19. Looks GREAT!! Great idea!!! CW
  20. Sounds like a lot of work for little return...but could be cool.... Do it and take pics along the way so we can all watch you do it!! http://www.awshifting.com/ CW
  21. I'll bet the lil do-hickie in the "proportioning valve" is kaputz. When I did my rear brakes it stayed on on me also. Swapped it out and no more issues!! CW
  22. Nobody likes a smart arse... :D :brows: :D :D :D  CW
  23. Post some pics of your rust problems.... I cannot tell what the problems are from your description... CW
  24. you get power to front axle when you shift lever in your cab. So whether the front axle is engaged or dis-engaged won't matter. ALL jeeps with one piece axles are engaged all the time as jeep doesn't use any kind of a hub selector on current jeeps. CW
