  1. This looks very much like an adjustable version of a factory Jeep WJ bar. Very nice!! This all but totally eliminates droop binding issues!!! At the same time much better isolation with bushings at both ends!! Is one poly and one rubber? Likely more than you need Don. But a VERY nice upgrade!! What better time to UPGRADE, I mean you already NEED a track bar....  Go for it man!! CW
  2. Eagle, Time has proven my/our argument time and time again. I attempted to convey that in my post. Wonder how it is to go thru life with blinders on. If heims worked so well, and where legal or superior to TRE's you would see them in factory applications. Lead, Yours is an apples to oranges argument. Fact remains they are not recognised as road legal (DOT approved) with in the world as it is today. There for there use as well as the repercussions of that use, is entirely the users responsibility. I personally have had three different manufactures Heims FAIL to the point of rattles, unwanted movement and NOISE. All failed prematurely to what the factory TRE or conventional bushing did before and after. Did they still function with the noise. Yes, but I was not willing to put up with the noise and vibration the caused. Like you said we disagree on this one. As long as any one reading this dig a bit and reads up and makes an informed, not an opinionated decision. I have accomplished my intention. Far to many "knowledgeable" authors spout off about things they have never even worked with or even seen first hand. But read about from some other schmuck and post it up as gospel for other unknowing readers to take as fact. CW
  3. In my opinion Heim joints have no place on the street. Been there done that. They simply don't last and get very noisy once worn a bit. Plus the hole safety minded single shear argument. Truth be told, I don't think they are even D.O.T. so if one fails and it is determined to have been a mitigating factor in the accident and there is a law suit.. kiss your arse good-bye. Off road ONLY with minimal mileage, Heims are in there element. Durable and noise isn't a factor. MAJOR angle ability with out binding. It has many pluses. TRE's are proven time and time again. Of coarse a one piece TB is better and likely stronger. But its just not practical. Very few have the the ability or expertise to fab up mounts or a custom length TB. BUT, since you have opened the door to options.. The WJ style is THE WAY to go. Just like my Kevin's TB.. (Built by JKS) CW
  4. I have little doubt the stock rustyd bushings are crap. but I agree with BLATZ. Go with the stock rubber. They will wear fine and not squeak a bit!! BTW, Mine are still fine. But I havent been hauling anything. Still have a couple sets of packs and add-a-leafs waitn to go in to "UP" the payload a bit... :brows:  CW
  5. I have the detours product. GREAT very well made product. I actually got one of the first "new" redesigned units and LOVE it. I haven't gotten around to building my bumper from/with it but the mount as a "backbone" is second to none!! I drove right down and picked mine up and met the man. Nice guy!! CW
  6. That's the one downfall.. On the MJ/XJ you may have to make up a spot for them. They didn't offer a good spot like on the TJ. I have been sacrificing a couple zip ties and calling that good. CW
  7. I also have these on my TJ. I am on the third set of bushings!! First set MY FAULT. These things have ZERK FITTINGS for a reason!!  But my TJ is way flexible and these bushings seem a bit soft to me. If your looking for an upgrade... I have JKS discos on all my other rigs NO PROBLEMS there!! CW
  8. Motion is a big contributor to this forum. Obviously you can go where ever you want, and far be it for me to tell you what to do. But if its all the same, what not throw some business to a friend!! He/they are on here daily helping ALL of us out!! CW
  9. I have had the Tera-flex unit and will recomend against it for the very reason Motion pointed out. I had it fail and it cost me big dollars for the replacement piece only to have it fail again. I like TF products... just not this product. You didn't mention it but I'll throw it out there... also stay away from RUSTY'S and Skyjacker's bars too. I recomend JKS products track-bar. I use it and have for years NO PROBLEMS!! Its TOP quality, from a well respected, established company that will stand behind there products. CW
  10. You guys and your "FRUITY" beers. Leave the girly beer alone, your adults now. Time to step up to a mans taste. Move over to the big boy table..  Whats a mans beer? There is a lot of them, take your pick. They ALL HAVE this in common, NONE have fruit in them. :D Never have, never will. CW
  11. I have a BANKS with a hi-flo cat and MagnaFlo cat back on mt TJ. BIG seat of the pants difference. But I also have a larger TB and a spacer. Sounds nice, deep rumble at idle and mello tone while crusing with a great growl in the upper RPM's. CW
  12. Riley says he likes cats too. He would very much like to meet yours... He adds... they are yummy!! CW
  13. WD is great stuff, WD stands for Water Displacement. Use its for what its intended for. Go get yourself a good penetrating oil. I have always loved PB. I recently found some new stuff I like even better!! Its called FREE ALL. Its a silver can and works GREAT!! CW
  14. Good job!! Nice clean work!!  CW
  15. This is not necessarily so... 2" cheby drop shackles drop a cheby 2" because the shackle is approx 4" longer than stock. (Remember cheby shackles run upside-down compared to our mj's.) For a shackle to net you 1" of lift it would need to MEASURE 7-7.5" eye to eye. I'm unsure the factory measurement of the cheby shackle, so I cannot say what the lift from one will be. Does that make any sense? CW
  16. People use the cheby shackles as they are WAY popular and easy to find. BUT... About any shackles designed for 3" springs that measure 5.5" or longer (Hole to hole) will work. So all you need to know is the hole to hole measurement and that they will work with a 3" wide spring. This is important because as the shackle gets longer twist ability is increased. To combat this the sides of the shackle need to be stoutly connected. Another rule to remember, shackles only move one end of the leaf, so the lift is 2:1. 2" of longer shackle nets you approx 1" of lift. CW
  17. I'm there!! IIRC, Eagle is too. Look in Connecticut. CW
  18. That a nice mount, Here is a big pat on the back and a GOOD JOB for you for doing it!! Next time your in Connecticut look me up.. I'll hook you up with some REAL BASS!! These are from last night... Smallest was just over 40" and 23# biggest was 45" and 37#. CW
  19. SWR measures signal to wavelength of your antenna. IIRC the 102 is half wave for this band. (Or is it full wave.. too many beers today. I'm a bit fuzzy.) That's the reason no adjustments are necessary for the 102". It's length is REQUIRED. So when to use a shorter antenna that length needs to be made up somewhere. Usually this is done in the base and other times in the "loaded" center section. Antennas like a broad flat metal surface for mounting. That's why the center of car roofs work well. Its tougher on the PU. SWR is not completely controlled by the antenna. move rout the cable with purpose. Do the same when considering where you put the mast itself. See for yourself, move the cable and re-check SWR. CW
  20. Yes... Don't be surprised to find little to no pressure. ours are old vehicles and the pressure can "bleed" off on its own. CW
  21. I choose a fire wrench or saws all.. They really, NEVER FAIL!!! :D :D CW
  22. Although it won't account for the bearing... If you like playing the mud, there is a price to pay. Mud LOVES axle seals!!! Also, How is the surface the seal runs on? A rough /imperfect surface here can "eat" seals as well. As for your bearings.. well bent housing will sure do it, but so will poor quality bearing, improperly installed and lack of enough lubrication. Did you/ your mech. swap the bearing AND a new race, of skimp and just do the bearing? CW
  23. Since picking up a little 323. I have really been noticing little VW's for some reason... GTI's especially... :D Nice ride. CW
  24. This is one time, to tight is no good!! :brows:  It's a feel thing, :D but about 7-8MM should be about right. CW
