2" spacers up front will get you to 5 and then a spring over in the rear should balance nice enough. Trouble is there LOTSA other stuff to considder, besides just the springs!! Track bar, Control arms, Shocks, and Steering geometry are what first comes to mind. What on the surface appears a cheap thing can empty your wallet mighty FAST!!! JEEP J Just E Empty E Every P Pocket :D  ;) CW

I got them for the family discount....  :D ;) FREE!!! I just had to wait till the sand blaster guy, had extra time on a job and the sand to do it with out my having to buy it. It took him a couple weeks but I didn't care. its not like I NEED there right away. Its just kinda a project. A guy over on my clubs board did his and they came out GREAT!! It kinda spurred me to get movin on mine. I like to hook ya up, but the distance and all shipping/delivery would be way expensive!! CW

What I am thinking of doing is to completely paint with the GRAPHITE color. Then go back and mask the actual rim or sides and sand the center section to a brushed look and clear coat. That way the color will only be on the inside edges and sides. I think it will look good, but just an idea. I shot the rims with the first coats tonight. Image Not Found Image Not Found The paint covers nicely. If fills most of the "texture" left from snad blasting. At least while wet.... We shall see what it looks like in the AM.... CW

Well it got me moving. I picked these up in a trade and they have been sitting for some time. I wasn't sure what I would do with them. I knew I was going to refinish them. My brother in law had them sand blasted for me! They came out nice, wish I had thought to remove the wheel weights first...but I don't think it will be too noticable. Here is what they looked like before. Image Not Found Here is what they lok like now: Image Not Found I took a ride to Pep-Boys looking for paint. i found some specfically for rims!! Probably the SAME THING as reg paint, just cost two bucks more a can!! :banghead: BUT I got it anyhow. I decided on a top coat of clear as well. Image Not Found I have a set of 30" BFG's in the garage to mount on them. This way I can also move them out doors!! I hate to store UN-mounted tars outside!! I'll post up more pics as I get them painted and mounted up!! Bri

Will a full size spare fit...
CWLONGSHOT replied to PlumCrazy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
JUST Curious, Are these the ones you have? You can get a 30X9.5X15's in there I'm not sure how much bigger a tar would fit? I had a 30X9.5 under mine for some time. BTW, these rims are commonly refered to as 10 spokes. :D CW -
Spence, I thought you had these from my gate last time you where here? You can take my whole gate with you when next we meet!! Rained out Sunday..... CW

The WJ arms are nice and will improve ride as well as tar clearance. BUT all you need to do is adjust the steering stops and call it good, NO MORE RUBBS!!! CW

CWLONGSHOT replied to Stumpy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Looks GREAT!!! I really like the single tube look!!! When I did mine, I wanted it as close to the body as I couile get it. thats why I cut the ends to better fit the body, yet still offer some protection for the sheet metal. CW -
http://www.funrise.com/detail.aspx?id=06161 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... id=4016706 Look at these...they really CRAWL, soft ""aired down"" tars, LOCKED diffs, Hi & LO range. They have a very flexable suspention and act very much like my/all built TJ's. The 1:6 size is quite large!! It's about 20" front to back and over a foot wide.VERY COOL!!! Show 'em who's king of the off-road with the Rock Crawler. With true solid-axle suspension, this radio-controlled 1:6-scale Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4-wheeler can climb over almost any rough terrain. To bring out your competitive side, its four-band RC lets you race against three of your friends. And, with a burnt orange paint job and blue top railing, it looks as tough as it drives. CW

Stumpy, LOOKS GREAT!! I second the fumes...don't breath them...lessin you WANT your future kids on the short bus!!! Nice having the mount thou the tube, but can you get in there to weld? If not there is little advantage. I couldn't, so I extended the mount and ground it so it half encircled the pipe. CW -
http://rep.racepages.com/parts/racepage ... howdc=true They cost about 40 each/new for the lowers, 25 each for the uppers. Next to nothing from another jeeper who added a lift. Too easy/cheap to get to fiddle around changing bushings in the ones you have. thats all. How do you know/figure the ones you have are bad? CW
-
I have done this...its a PIA. I would just go buy new complete LCA's (NOT Very expensive) or get a set form someone who just put in a lift. Being they are stamped steel, pounding on them causes flex. Most of your "power" is absorbed in the flex, so your arms will be noodles and before you finish. I use a ball joint press with good results. Just my humble opinion. CW

Do you know the width WMS - WMS? CW
