  1. Where did you get yours? I've always wondered if there was a decent dash mat available for our trucks... how is the fit and finish?
  2. Mkay, I'm thinking about revamping the turn signal and hazard functions. This is an EP28 3 terminal flasher.
  3. Check for voltage at pin 8 of the connector going into the cluster (white) to cycle on and off with the high beams. Edit: Which truck? :laughin:
  4. Well there's been no official progress made, but there has been much brainstorming, planning, researching, and drawing. This is a heavily edited Mitchell schematic for the truck's lighting circuits. It's not done yet (get 30min here and there to work on it,) but I figured I could get some other eyes looking at it and get a critique or two as I continue. The lighted rear view mirror should be from a 90s Lumina.
  5. This. Look up a video on YouTube and give a compression test a whirl. If you're not confident in your results (or the results suck) THEN pay a shop to verify your findings and give you their advice if you so desire.
  6. The partially melted horn button has always bothered me. Fixed!
  7. These are sleeves from some pin style sway bar links. A 3/8" bolt fits like a glove through the holes in the rebound clips and these sleeves... I'll have to collect two more of them.
  8. Does anybody use anything sandwiched between the leaf and the perch and/or top plate? I want to say I've seen rubber/plastic insulators factory installed on other cars and trucks...
  9. I at one time was very interested in making my own set of tail lights... nicely done!
  10. I've always heard it called a bearing splitter... either way that thing has been through hell and back here at the shop and she keeps on going. And there's no gauge on our press so I can't say how much pressure was actually on it. It got the job done!
  11. Replacement bushings (by catalog) should be MOOG #SB372 and SB371 or Napa #2747056 and 2747058. I hear that replacement plain rubber bushings for the stock shackles are pretty well non-existent, is that correct? As much as I like the build quality of JKS products I don't want the additional lift their shackles will give; I'll try and find some stock shackles if replacement bushings can be found.

  13. Gave it a whirl today. BINGO! All it took was a 25 ton press and some sweat! :chillin: For those who don't have access to a press, you can pretty easily find a shop that will do this for you for a nominal charge.
  14. Got the flange on the forward bushing folded up out of the way a bit, also pinched in the rear bushing "shell" as best I could with the chisel I had. Another day or so of soaking in Deep Creep and I'll give it a try on the press. :crossfingers:
  15. Not my favorite idea either; I'll drill holes in the bushing and try to fold in or cut the shell of the bushing with an air chisel before the flames of justice are lit. But if push comes to shove the rubber will melt/burn out of there at a reasonably low temperature... We've done it at work with seemingly no ill effect. Hopefully I'll have time to try it out this week. Jeep Driver Was the rubber part of that bushing that screwed up or is that your doing?
  16. We've got a fair selection of press "accessories" at work, so hopefully I'll be able to find something that fits in there just right. The lube soaking in there for a week or so can't hurt either. I'm ready to torch them out if need be. So I'm actually cheating a bit on the whole "at-home" part of the project... but nothing too fancy going on.
  17. I'll be replacing my 32 x 11.5 with exactly these tires . I hope they don't look dumb being so skinny and all... But yea my fenders are cut (a lot) and I'm not on stock wheels. Every time I start considering a different tire (besides the BFG T/A KOs) I just keep coming back to it. C load range, 15" rim, with that sweet tread design is hard to beat.

Happy to document, just can't promise how quickly they'll get done :D In an effort to have the disassembly removal go a little easier I've got some Deep Creep soaking into the bushings and the center bolt areas. And if you've never tried, yes it does help to clean dirt/junk off threads. Thanks for the replies guys!
