School me on spring options.
WahooSteeler replied to Sir Sam's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don, what is your current measurement on your front end, and what is the stock measurement? I prefer little to no rake which is how your truck appears to me. -
15w-40 vs 10-30/40?
WahooSteeler replied to Jackrabbit41's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A couple of years ago someone on here suggested 5W/50 Castrol as Eagle also mentioned above. My local Advance Auto has it in stock, @$6-7/qt. -

Will a fuel sending unit from an 86 2.8 work in an 88 4.0? I'm guessing not because of carbureted vs. fuel injected. If not, can it be rebuilt with new pump etc and work? 86 model is out of a 23.5 gal tank and would go in the same size on the 88.

My truck has the cargo light, definitely comes in handy when needed, hauling trash in the evening or a long day of yard work. I think Stroker needs to sell me one of his NOS for a backup.

Jeff! How goes it man?! Yessir on the sweat equity and scraped knuckles. BTW, I still have your 15mm socket that somehow made it back with me that day! LOL

Plenty of 'Manches over the years that could be in that forum too! Yeah, someone could custom build something for half that! Less!

At $90k I figured this was better posted in The Pub than the Classifieds! Pretty cool though! https://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/d/1990-vw-syncro-camper-vanagon/6305034554.html

Thanks Pete and Hornbrod for letting me know about the DIY search index. Been away for awhile but my son gets his license in 30 days and Jeep MJ (still have my VA custom plates) is getting back on the road!

Comanche AMC 20
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Awesome! -
Very ironic that before I even saw this thread tonight I posted in the Pub that I think a good sticky in Tech or Projects would be a basic listing of parts needed, do's and don'ts etc for members like rylee144 and even myself.
-
I think a good sticky under Tech or Projects would be for MJ lifts. They could list out the minimum requirements for each common lift amount. I.E., 0-3" lift can be accomplished with these kits or collection of parts and requires 1, 2, 3, 4 to be done, i.e. front brake line extension etc. Then duplicate it for over 3" to 4.5" and again for over 4.5". Maybe what separates the lift categories is when a certain amount of lift triggers another critical requirement such as control arms or a transfer case drop or SYE etc. I know the majority of members know this on their own, but I still think it would be a great sticky for quick reference instead of sifting through a ton of posts. Just my nickels worth........

Cranks but no start.......no fuel?
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hornbrod, my truck has a hard wired electric fan that comes on as soon as the ignition is turned on so I could not hear the pump humming when I tried it. Need to do it again and crawl under the truck. Hopefully I have some time to troubleshoot this weekend. -
Cranks but no start.......no fuel?
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Eagle, thought of replacing the filter as a cheap first step. Hornbrod, I'll have to try again and listen specifically for it, but I don't recall hearing it before and I had the door open when I went to crank it. -
Truck got parked probably 2-3yrs ago due to various issues, mainly cracked manifold. Been putting off getting it going again due to normal constraints, time and money. My son gets his license in November and this will be his DD until he goes to college. Time to get it running again. So, over the past few years I would start it every 4-5mos and let it idle. Unfortunately time got behind me and it's been well over a year since last fired. Put a new battery in, 4 gallons of new gas and some Seafoam. Lots of cranking and no fire. Several shots of starting fluid and she'd fire long enough to burn that off but no love after that. I let it sit for a few days (and had to recharge the battery) and tried one more time. Same thing, fired with starting fluid but very briefly then dies. On the last try I noticed that the fuel gauge was pegged "full" but I know it does not have a full tank as I purposely let it run low when I last started it so I didn't have a tank full of old gas. Is the fuel gauge incorrectly reading full an indicator my fuel pump finally died? Thanks for comments, suggestions and direction............

Still lurk around this great site from time to time and wanted post with a picture tonight. Tried the search, looked on pinned posts and now I'm taking the easy route. How do you post pics now? Been so long since I posted one I forgot how and assume it has changed. Thanks!

Long time no see fellas! Hornbrod, congrats on #16, great game! I'm an ACC fan (I have to say that since I'm a UVA fan and they suck at football LOL) so I was pulling for Clemson, but that history of knowing "we're Alabama and we're not out of this" came through. I'm also a big Bama fan though as one of my best friends went there, so Roll Tide!

WahooSteeler replied to coryy0's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
I'm going to pick these up. I emailed the guy tonight. Haven't heard back yet, but I'll call him tomorrow. Only about 3hrs from me and hopefully he'll be wiling to meet me in Hagerstown which is about 2hrs from me and an hour from him. Can't pass it up, definitely a dream of mine to make mine a dually. Now to start looking for a diesel....... :brows: -
I didn't bother to see if this is already posted somewhere, if not, have a good read with this hilarious ad. Not a bad looking MJ either! http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/4752723771.html

Whatever number this makes me, I want to put my name in the hat for the flares if the others ahead of me somehow can't take them.
