  1. Krusty, any chance you could reproduce the bed flare retainer brackets? I'd bet there'd be a lot of takers considering what a common rust issue that area is.
  2. Thanks for the posts guys. You can see the "plug" on the end of mine like the pic from Dzimm so looks like I just need to zip-tie it back up. That said, mine doesn't seem long enough to reach up to the brake booster even though I assume that's not critical as long as it has good reach up in to the engine bay above any potential water line.
  3. That would make sense. Anybody got a pic of where it is supposed to attach to?
  4. LOL.......or big guts that disperse through the butt!
  5. Reviving old thread. So my driver seat also had that gangsta lean to it and I assumed being 30yrs old the foam had just caved in. Took it back to the upholstery shop I recently had redo the interior and come to find out, yup, the seat pan had a hairline crack on the outer side that supports the door side bolster. They said my foam was actually in really good shape but after welding up the seat pan they put a piece of dense foam underneath the bolster to help resist compression for good measure. Like comanche2 said, I now sit substantially higher (normal).......what a difference. $45 to pull the seat, take it apart, weld it up, put it back together and reinstall it. Hell yeah! Lesson learned? If your MJ has severe bottom seat cushion droop, it may be a cracked pan and not necessarily worn out foam.
  6. Noticed recently a hose hanging low under driver side of front axle, kind of in a loop. Tonight noticed it laying on the ground. What is this hose for, vacuum line? Notice the plastic connector on the end.
  7. Not sure if this link works but should be able to find them on Rock Auto anyway....... http://www.rockauto.com/RSS/vehiclefeeds.php?carcode=1181584&m=wc&l=en&html=true
  8. An absolutely outstanding build! Congrats
  9. Thanks to everyone who messaged me. I was also able to clarify a lot of the confusing info on the FSU's for various years, tank sizes etc., such as the fact the 18 and 23 gal tanks use the same unit. If you have, what appears to be, the less common 16gal tank, you'll need a different unit as the tank is not as deep as the larger ones, logically. Anyhoo, picked up a few of them actually to keep around for the future. Goose, Dusty and Saveevryjeep all hooked me up with good condition FSU's ready to be rebuilt, all fair prices and shipping with solid packaging. Solid guys to deal with if anybody needs to do business with them in the future.
  10. I'll take one........seriously, you need to license that thing and sell through Quadratec and other Jeep/4wd sites and catalogs. Yes, royalties for the iconic grill cutout and Jeep name, but I'm sure you could sell that retail for $100 all day and make a decent profit. With the way it appears it can quickly and easily be assembled/disassembled it's great for camping as well as back yards. Tack some heavy wire mesh on the inside of each panel to keep large embers from falling out, I really think you've got something there. Maybe on the "Life is Simple" panel you could offer different "Jeep sayings" or offer customization for a $50 up-charge. $$$$
  11. Kickin'Chicken messaged me tonight that his 16gal tank measured 32"x14", so I'm assuming it is 14" high and also 14" wide. So to state the obvious, an FSU from a 16gal tank will NOT reach the bottom of an 18 or 23.5gal MJ tank since they are nearly 18" high.
  12. Yes.....meant to mention that.
  13. Thanks again Don, that's a big help. I have the same measurement to the float, but the short arm I have 3 1/2". Interesting.
  14. Don, could you take this one step further? What is the length of the float arm from the bend to the end of the retainer clip? A unit I received today had the same dimensions as your picture and the float arm was @5 1/2 inches from bend to end of clip.
  15. Thanks Pete. I was actually more concerned about the small cross member, seems it would add to some rigidity and help in a side impact absorption at least a little. But not gonna sweat it now.
  16. A bit overdone IMO, it's too "busy"..............I like the black roof and hood, have thought of doing that on mine w/out the centerline detail on the hood. The Comanche on the door and the Eliminator on the back, then MJ on the gate............too much. The different font on the Comanche & Eliminator throw it off for me. To each his own though. Otherwise, great MJ!
  17. Recently had my floor pans repaired and the pass side "cross member" had to be removed to fit in the new pan properly. Also, the top part of the "sandwich", as I call it, to the frame rails had to be trimmed back on both sides as you can see in the pics. My question is, I'm pretty sure I've seen plenty of pics where this has been done on other floor repairs and these items are not replaced (see Plain Jane's current build thread). So is the general opinion that there is not a substantial structural loss by not replacing these pieces? Fyi, the "rust dust" on the driver floor is from the pieces that were stuck to the bottom of the floor padding when I laid it back in for the past few weeks.

  19. Just couldn't leave it alone, could ya? LOL
  20. Thanks for the help, anxious to see what you come back with. That sure looks identical in size to the later 18gal models. I have seen comments that said the 16gal model was an 18gal shell with compartments/baffles to reduce the capacity down to 16gal. Strange approach by Jeep to do that, but they certainly did a lot of stuff then that didn't make sense. I'm mainly curious about the height measurement. The only difference in the 18gal and 23gal tank dimensions is the length, which is supported by the fact that the FSU is the same model # for both size tanks. Since the 16gal tank is a different part #, I have assumed it was not as tall (deep) as the 18/23gal versions. Until learning this recently, I thought the 23gal FSU was a standalone part but an 18gal FSU is the same part, which at least adds more chances of finding one that will work in a 23gal truck. Whew............that's a mouthful!
  21. That's absolutely stellar work Don! Thanks!
  22. Don, if I am correct you have a couple units so could you possibly take a picture or two of them in the same orientation as the one(s) I've posted? Having confirmed that the one I posted does indeed have curved lines, therefore an MJ unit, it would be helpful to determine if the one I posted is indeed from a 23.5gal tank since we know for a fact yours is. Thanks for any help!
  23. Any chance you know what the dimensions are of the 16gal tank?
  24. And the other one.............
  25. Assuming the one I posted above is from a 23gal tank, which nobody has confirmed yet, I may have found another one also. I'm likely to get them both. I'm just anal enough that a backwards reading fuel gauge would drive me crazy LOL
