  1. I wish I could find something like that for $100.
  2. no problem. I've been web wheeling hard, and I soak up info at a stupid pace. Besides, all the cool kids are doing discs in the rear, don't you wanna? ;)
  3. that's a nice d44, can I have it? Your link should work with the img tag. Should look like this: [img=http://pic2.picturetrail.com/VOL968/4409649/9325583/131257533.jpg]
  4. that's this http://www.rocky-road.com/comanche.html That's an MJ on this site, search for XJblue as the poster. You will find more info. My only issue with that kit is that at 5" you really need control arms. if you look at this side view you can see that the front axle is pulled towards the rear of the truck. That will also affect your pinion and caster angles on the front axle. Something to think about. I'd buy the kit, OME is real good stuff, then get adjust control arms, a drop bracket, or go long arms. I think that you also have to consider the steering geometry at that height. Personally I'm lifting the MJ 3", which is the highest I feel I can go without changing the steering. Even then I plan on getting new LCAs. When I get inchitis and need to go 5 or 6 inches I'm going to look into long arms. Maybe the TNT setup with the arms in the bely pan/crossmember. Sorry for the long post, just my thoughts.
  5. I think people were putting corwnvic discs on 44's. http://www.jeepin.com/features/cvdiscs/index.asp http://members.tripod.com/cherokeekid5/ ... ild_up.htm or you can go ZJ parts http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoRearDiscs1.htm
  6. We can hope! I was just making sure he was aware to check the slip yoke, no one wants a busted T-case housing because it got jammed up in there.
  7. I use an 88 manual on my 87. Sometimes it's little things, mostly wire color changed and stupid nonsense. Mechanically I've yet to find a difference, but electrically, yeah, some things are wired firrently. It's still useful for tracing circuits, but it's sometimes a pain to figure out which wires are different colors.
  8. quadratec has polyurethane bushins for most everything. I know they have a kit for the cherokee, they may have one for the MJ. Or maybe you can just get a front end kit for the chrokee. http://www.quadratec.com/cgi-bin/sgdyna ... &checked=Y
  9. the D44 pinion is longer than the d35, you may have to have the d-shaft shortened a bit, if the lift doesn't pull the slip yoke out far enough. IIRC it's about an inch difference.
  10. I was getting to it Ugly!! I need to pull it, drill it for my license plate and light. I may also drill it for some aux backup lights. I'm going to trim the ends a bit to make it less square, and of course it needs painted. It's hella sturdy. I jacked up the truck with it. Bumper is 2x6 c channel, real hard stuff, it's all built out of scrap so I'm not sure what it was originally. Something structural. Bumper mounts are made from angle iron, 2x3.5 that sticks through the face. Bumper is held on each side to cut down stock bumper mounts with 4 1/2" bolts and nuts. Stock bumper brackets are held to frame with 4 more of the same.
  11. now imagine a LWB MJ for length. It's longer than the 3/4 ton van at work. Sucks to parallel park :)
  12. I'm gonna guess 33's That's a nice famliy you got there. I want to find FSJ truck, a big brother to pull the MJ. It'd be so sweet to have a j series, but a wood grained grand waggy would be awesome too.
  13. Got the new bumper welded up and mounted. It's still ugly as sin. I need to trim the ends with an angle, and grind the whole thing down it and paint. Also need to drill my shackle mounts. It should look alright when it's finished. Made out of 3/8 angle iron for the mounts, sticks trough a piece of 2x6 channel. Ugly, but it's what was laying around as scrap.
  14. typical idel for a v6 should be 6-800 RPM.
  15. So I took the angle grinder to the body today. Scary. No more rollpan, hope to have the new bumper finished and mounted tomorrow. Will get pics/

    See ya for now!

winterfest is next weekend, I'll post it up for you with some pics. I'm sure I'm going to break something.
  17. I'm going to visit my brother, he's stationed at jacksonville. Uwharrie is just a perk. He's got a lifte xj, 4" maybe, on 32's I think. I have some pics, but they're huge, and I don't feel like resizing. http://nsjames.net/comanche/jeep%20011.jpg there's a link, it's 1.2 MB if you want to see.
  18. Have you checked the IAC is operating properly? My MJ would die after a downshift and engine braking when I pushed the clutch back in. The IAC was all gummed up and not moving quick enough. I took it out and cleaned it up real nice and it hasn't stalled since. Something too look at before you go messing with the idle screw.
  19. yeah I forgot to look at your pic links. :) Congrats on the first shakedown though, that thing looks like a tank.
  20. I'll vote for 500-1000, with $750 springing to mind. The thing that turns me off is the lincoln lock on the 8.8. I wasn't including the tires in that thought. Just axles and steering. If I had the cash I'd buy'em, but I'm broke, and the
  21. I did some research on the AMC 20 when I found one in the yard. Wicked strong ring and pinion, tubes tend to spin in the pumpkin, best to weld them. The MJ one doesn't use the 2 piece shafts that the CJ one did. It's setup more like a FSJ AMC 20. Apparently very strong, but getting replacement shafts would be a PITA, only used for 1 year in the MJ, as the d44 appeared in 87.
  22. Do you have a picture of your stock one? I should have taken a before pic of mine. It was welded onto the bottom of the trans xmember, and had a bend in it under the t-case. Perhaps it was ment for a 242 and put on the MJ. I don't know. I could see the stock one hanging down from the side of the truck, I can't see this one as I walk up to it. Like I said, somebody had boogered it all up, I'm undoing the years of stupid on my truck.
  23. Because some moron had boogered up my stock one. It wasn't attached properly and sat WAY below the tranny x-member. They are sell tappers. There's a hole to the rear of tem, I may try and fish some nts into the frame, or got nutsert. I'm not planning on any hardcore rocks. THis was just so I didn't bork it at Winterfest. I'll Figure out what to do with it in the spring, before I go to Uwharrie. My Stock t-case skid had been removed, and the welded back onto the x-member. I don't have a stock one to look at for a fram of reference, but it hung a lot lower than this warn one. I got it from www.cseoffroad.com Was $77 and free shipping. Included all the self tappers. Instructions sucked, but it's not exactly rocket science to put one on.

    The Wife

That's precisely my reasoning. She loves to be out hiking and such, due to joint issues I just can't walk far into the wilderness anymore. After about a mile it just plain hurts to take steps. So the Jeep is my compromise, we can go and do all sorts of things we used to do, only I don't have to walk to get there.
