  1. nope, you'll need to get a 4x4 AW4 transmission and t-case. Shouldn't be too hard to salvage from a rolled or wrecked cherokee. If I recall there was an electronics change when they wen't OBD-II, so you're going to probably want a trans out of something 91-95. The reason I say that is because that's when the AW4 went to 23 Spline output. I would suggest that route over movng the 2.5 over. Do that and you'll also have an electronic nightmare. Since your truck is an auto anyway it would be as simple as plugging a 4WD Aw4 in. You'll likely have to get your 2WD Driveshaft cut down to the right size. I would use the axles out of the 2.5, they'll be geared lower, that is unless you've got a d44 in the rear of the 2WD, in that case get it regeared to match the 2.5L front axle.
  2. bed light? You mean the cargo lamp for the bed? Was that an option or was it standard. I've got one, and I'm wondering.
  3. might also want to look at the headlight switch. Switch and ground are the most likely culprits, with ground being most likely.
  4. what interior on the MJ? I've got buckets in mine and they're quite comfortable. I did 6 hours one way to the badlands, then wheeled all day long. Wen I got out of the Jeep my back didn't hurt. I can't speak to the comfort of the bench, but the buckets in my 87 are honestly some of the most comfortable seats I've had in any car. THe droning from a 4.0 while doing 75 on the freeway is a bit annoying, but that may also be because of my turn down exhaust before he axle. I don't find the ride objectionable, but it is a truck after all. washboard roads are killler on the kidneys. I got 23.5 MPG averageing 75 on my trip to indiana.
  5. apparently my seond link wasn't working, it should be now. More of an overhead view to show the door protection.
  6. I need to find out what color he used, that loks exactly like my paint, and I need the code for touchup purposes.
  7. A guy on the NAXJA boards. XJNation His compnay is Rockwerks. http://xjnation.homestead.com/index.html I don't know if he's making any more, these were something he made out of some 78" yota rails for me. Worth a call. Price was good, and they're plenty stout. Stick out a little past the door handle, so hopefully no more body damage for me :)
  8. Of course I knew that, everyone knows that Jeeps are just for soccer moms to get groceries :)
  9. I gave 1500 for my LWB 4.0 4x4 that already had an AX-15 in it. The lot was asking $4K, I told them they were crazy, and flashed 1500 cash. No rust except the corners of the doors
  10. pump is in the tank, easily accessed in th side. Make sure you're below 1/2 tank if you take it out. It's easier to work on if you take out the rear driveshaft for headroom. Use a brass punch to undo the ring holding the fuel pump in place. DOn't want any sparks. Might want to get a spare gasket for when you put it back together, if it's been in there all these years chances are it will disintegrate when you take it off. I don't know if the TJ pump will work. Likely the pump will, but it's going to have a different hanger at the very least.
  11. http://nsjames.net/comanche/DSCF0501.JPG http://nsjames.net/comanche/DSCF0500.JPG only got one on this weekend. Had to replace a wheel cylinder after I broke the bleeder. I had to post some pics though. I like tem, door protection, and it's pretty beefy. Bolted to the pinch seam and the frame. I'll probably have them welded on at some time, but right now I need to take them off to fix some rust in the cab corner in the spring. I'm also thinking about sleeving the frame rail, if I do that then they'll definitly get welded to that.
  12. skyjacker makees a full length 3" AAL. I've got a set sitting in the garage. I know most people aren't cool with skyjacker, but I couldn' pass up $200 for 3" coils, shocks and AAL.
  13. you could get lucky and it's already had a swap done. I was. I gave 1500 for this MJ. It's an 87, newer paint straight body. 4.0 had an AX-15 in it, 231, bucket seats, full guages, Pioneer package with skids. Even had a custom roll pan.
  14. 2.5L cherokees should have 4.10s Latermodel Cheros also got rid of the CAD, so you can swap in a 2.5L front HP 30 and get rid of the CAD and get 4.10s I forget the years that the newer 297 joint was used. I want to say from 96-99. I know that 00 and 01 got low pinion 30s, so you don't want one of those.
  15. I also remember hearing of a 3.8 used by olds or buick that was 60*, but I don't pay much mind to those, since I'm already a 4.0
  16. I thought that the 4.3 was a 90* block and used the SBC bellhousing pattern. I might be wrong though.
  17. they're jsut that, vents. If you didn't have them you wouldn't get fresh air into the cab unless you rolled down a window.
  18. here's another site to look at for the 3.4 swap http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Pro ... ect_XJ.htm
  19. Where are you geting the aircraft cable? I was going to put a hand throtle in the truck, for trail use and also as a poor man's cruise control.
  20. cause it's a Jeep!
  21. rear cetainly looks d44, take a look at those spring packs though, I counted 7 leaves.
  22. it sounds like you've hit Jeep truck nirvana, I want a j-10 to pull the Mj to the trail :)
  23. I think if you use te XJ brackets then the seats sit way up high in the cab. That's what I read while web wheeling.
  24. I'm leaving tomorrow morning like 4 am I'm waiting on rockrails, frickin DHL is running out of time I'm gonna be pissed if I don't get them today.
  25. I think ti would make it we todd id capable.
