Yeah, this guy took some damage http://www.wkrg.com/hurricane/article/c ... ing/17014/ :teehee: I think I would have let go after the faceplant in the sand. :brows: He couldn't he was strapped in... One write-up said he had a emergency release, but didnt know why he didnt pull it.. It would have been one wild arse ride,, until you smacked into the side of a 1000 tons of concrete....

Will your heater/vent fan work with key off??
jtdesigns replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Cool thanks,, I wasnt sure just know I saw a white relay... here's all I did today ,,, I still have the problem even after I unhooked all the (3) connectors on the column.... The units stop when I pull each ones fuse, so I guess thats kinda a start... I'm hoping its something on the backside of the fuse box.. -

I saw a white relay, but didnt really have time today to do any deep searching.. I looked at the engine bay side of the bulkhead and didnt see any signs of melted, cut, or bad insulated wires... Like I said didnt have alot of time to mess with it today.. I did see coolant all over my VC and manifold today from the front heater hose that sprung a leak.......... so I guess I'm not 100% operational as of yet... :hateputers: :headpop: :wall:   -
No Radio or Clock memory
jtdesigns replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
where might i find the above referenced items? are you saying this should be visible on the back of the clock? I'm looking at the diagram right now Greg, 12v+ is coming off the ign switch on a Orange wire to the clock fuse, then it goes to clock on an orange-yellow wire.. I think what he's talking about is the illumination circuit which is all the orange with black tracer wires which is fed from the light switch to the LPS fuse.. That illumination is really what lets you see the time, as you know its just a light bulb that passes light through the crystal(??) display. like if you were to take the light bulb out you would still be able to see the clocks time if you held it up to a flashlight. -
You should mix a lil silver flake in that paint.. but I'll still call it the smurf II MJ :D I think its going be a nice truck after said and done..

I know,I've used that tailgate for all kinds of things.. I wonder how well a bench vise would bolt up to it?? lol BUT,,,,,on the other hand, at least the tire carrier swings out and locks.. The s-10 blazer I drove pretty much my whole life didnt have a lock to keep it fully open and would bang the blazers tail gate every time if you didnt hold it or park on the right side of a hill..

Are you talking on the engine side? I'll check I might have pinched some wires when I put the booster back in... I'm just about to run out of steam on this truck!!!! yep. (thinking outloud here) ok,, studying the diagram for an 88 xj I see the hot coming off the Ign switch with a brown wire that splits into 3.. one goes to the horn relay, one runs into the fuse box to the wiper/washer fuse, and one runs to 4 fuses; 1- rear wiper (I don't think I have one of those on my sliding glass, but could be wrong) 2- the radio 3- blower, and 4- the turn signal circuit... So the only wires I need to trace outside the firewall are the horn relay (not sure where that is right now) a rear wiper phantom wire , washer fluid level switch (which, by the way, I know is unhooked + it runs through the radio fuse  ) and the turn signal (hummmm, I did have to fix some wires going to the front left blinker/park light, but I think the blower was still working with key off before I messed with those wires :hmm: ) wait the wire runs through the turn B/U fuse from brown>fuse>yellow-T (which I presume the T means black tracer) to the flasher on fuse box... But, I'll still start at the repair I did on the park light first.. I then will proceed to that washer level switch (which I think I should just be able to pull the radio fuse and check for 12v on both sides of fuse connector) Thats all I really see being a problem right now unless like Chico added two wires could be passing voltage at a bad spot or something, which Ive dug into the system a few times and didnt see any wires melted together other then the brake fluid corroded pieces that I've already fixed .. I hate having to pull that bulkhead apart and back together on the firewall Its such a b!tch.... -
suddenly no fuel pump but found this wire.....

UPDATE............. OK well its not the ign switch. I disconnected three connectors on the column that do the switching and still have power on turns and blower........ I guess I need to dig deeper,,, unless some one has any ideas......... :dunno: ;) :D jt -
I took my truck out for it first real drive today.. My steering feels real,,, real lose, but I checked all the TR ends and greased them up real good,, I adjusted the gear box too,, I did notice when she was up on blocks (blocks under front 2wd axle not frame) that when I turned it lock to lock the body would shift in either direction.. That would be the track bar right?? How do I check it? It felt tight. Think I should get under it and have someone turn it lock to lock?? Would it still move if tires were on and sitting on gravel? I guess what I really need to know is what should I be look for/at?????? Oh yeah sorry bout the threadjack,, but maybe both our trucks are having the same problem....

I don't know how many ppl actually use a libby, but my mom has one and the first post you were saying how the gate swings out.. Yeah I agree 100% on that one. My rodeo has a tailgate that swings down just like a pick-up and theres no telling how many times that has come in handy. Another thing about the libbies tail gate is how the handle operates... You kinda pull it out half way and it opens the glass,,, all the way it opens the gate and glass.. sounds nice but a real PITA if say your loaded up to the top of the gate and you want to put something on top and you go just to open the glass and you go to far and the gate pops open making you have to push everything back in and hold it so you don't drop everything youve loaded... Thats just something that I don't like about it... Oh yeah and I also don't like the way I feel like I'm riding on top of the thing when I drive it.. the seats are way to high I think for me, or the windows are to low one.. and why the he!! did they put the window switches on the center console???? Its not a Benz,,,,,, wait a sec think that was a design that was put there because benz owned the company? ok vent over.... :D

Well..... not only the heater, but the turn signals, clock backlight, hazard blinkers, and horn. (which I thought only worked with switch on) so...... thinking is definitely has something to do with the 96 column.... If its not one thing its a f-ing'nother.....
