89' MJ (very slow build up) PICS*
jtdesigns replied to tkgibbs27's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Not something that I'm real proud of (or have taken any pics of)... but it's cool to have a twin... I'm still torn on whether or not to pull the stripes off... I have the eraser die-grinder thing, but haven't sacked up and used it yet... I think I still want too, but not sure... My engine is pretty beat to crap, so I think the next "big" thing is a rebuild that I'm not really looking forward too.. I was thinking about flying JeepCoMJ out to Cali and have him help me drop a super charged 3800 out of a Grand Prix GTP to see how it rolls... or maybe just a clean rebuilt Jeep 4.0 for simplicity's sake... SW2 I was at the paint store last week and picked up one of those decal eraser deals,,, It works pretty good,, but takes a while.. allow yourself a good Saturday evening to do one side.. -
ok,ok I should of asked,,,"How long did it take you to put it all back together?"

BIG @$$ pictures of BIG @$$ trucks FTMFW!!!!!! Sweet!!! :beerhead:

I know a humvee inside and out,, and I have to tell you this much,, I've had more trouble out of jeeps then I have humvees,, And these trucks arent just driven hard, but driven hard with an extra 3000#' of armor on them.. yeah sure the transmission tunnels comes up to your ribs, but that lets you have more then a foot of ground clearance.. Our team saw these things get trashed for a year and out of around 20 of them I think we only replaced 3 or 4 engines, no trannys,, 3 injector pumps (harder then swapping an engine) and a few generators. All in all there bullet proof,, sadly not bomb proof,, but damn near close to it. The biggest problem out of the m1114s were the door latches, but hey if you had to hold 200#s of weight all day you'd be beat too.. as for the H2's-3's, yeah there not really hummers,,,just big status quo...

I know a light goes off when I see mine....

I'm the one that feels ashamed. Over a year and I can't roll it little less drive it. I wish I had your know how and ability to get it done. It is difinetly the slowest build. The problem I have is for example; I wanted to paint the frame, but wait, I need to remove the bed, but wait, there's no room for it in the other garage, I'll need to move things around, but first I'll need to put the new casters on the folding trailer, now there's room, but then I need to move the donor, beds off, now then I need to POR-15 some spots, but first I need to get the leafs off, oh look at the leafs, I should clean them up and paint them, no wait, get the POR-15 done first, oh crap I need to wipe down the frame with something, (ding dong) oh look its the Fedex guy with my front driveshaft for the TJ, I should put it on, but I need to get new yoke straps from the parts store. Well it's 11:00 pm now and I've got nothing done. So you see I have an issue with prioritizing my projects. Thanks for all the comments though. It helps me at least feel good about what little progress I make and drives me to keep going. lol.. yeah I run around like that too!! Then right when you put your hands on it or wipe it down to paint,,, the phone rings!! or called to come in and eat,, or something always!! NEED MORE ,,, NEED MORE..............Cowbell!!!!!

Did you make sure all your bolts were tight on the drive accessories? Like alt, ps pump, idler pulley,, all those things?
