I'm just surprised they were not chromed.

Heat......penatrante ( of our choice or availability ) repeatedly. If you can still get nut(s) two would be nice with no welder available. Vise-grips slowly bite away what's left. We are all are saying we've been there. This is also when some HUGE amounts of patience pays off. This is normally my failure. BUT twice now I have worked out broken exhaust bolts at the back 4.0 heads by using penetrate and taping back and forth with a small punch & hammer. GOOD LUCK!

I'd be willing to use any of the three on my Nate's .... And with all three there you could triangulate.

Did you replace both Positive and Negative cables? How are your connections at all ends of these cables? Clean & Shiny? Highly recommend the BWD BH315P and BH315N. (O'Reilly's is only place around me that can get them.) These are military style connectors you never dis-connect them from the battery. Your cables connect separately. (These make all these other things used by most "professional audio shops" look like a joke and at half the price.) Good cables, good connections, GOOD GROUNDS. And yes, I've spent the entire day replacing everything except these items, the cheapest parts, and then once I did watch all my problems completely vanish. Good Luck!

1997 cherokee windshield in a comanche?
ScottJeep replied to dirtyoldjeeper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It will work.... it has been done.... the glass shop ( if competent ) should be able to get the right gasket. This one...taken from a late model XJ...by me... had local installer (used by my work) install. No issues.... ( truck has since been sold). The corners looked a little funky at first...but once it heated up good they looked better. GO FOR IT! -
Power Steering Leaking.... Again
ScottJeep replied to ScottJeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yep.... 24Hr AutoZone and 24Hr Advance Auto Parts both within a 30 minute drive....sometimes it pays to be in this "major metropolis/suburbia"...other times not. (when a couple thousand MORE people cut thru my street because the red-light is out on the major roadway at one end of the street...) hornbrod... I have that "something in a bottle"... worth a try before taking it all back apart... Thanks for the quick responses...... -
So after a complete overhaul/replacement it's leaking...again. New Pump w/res, New Hoses, New Pulley and New Belt. New Lucas fluid. Filled. Pulled out with turkey baster, Filled. Repeated. Noticed spot under the truck today. Great. And sorry. When all this went down I....hanging head....bought it all at AutoZone. It all looked the same and it was squealing sooooo bad. They have 24 hr store and had everything. Any particular trick? Don't THINK I over-tightened. But......it IS leaking....

It should all get down to the tire selected. As suggested just use a tire size tool. Try the Tirerack.com garage.... you can at least see what the FRONT of your MJ would look like.
-
Or you just need to know people that have two sets of spares hanging in their garage.

Before.... After.... 2" coils, ACOS, RC drop brackets in front AAL in the rear, RC shocks all round, RC steering stabilizer, YJ brake lines. 265/75/16 on 16" Rubicon MOABS

Replaced starter, now it will not start
ScottJeep replied to GPNAV8R's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Chased this issue once before. Did read that you checked all the connections/grounds. Would go back over them again. My issue was cables that looked good at the connections but were totally crap in other areas. The NSS as suggested is a good place to check AND is also a good maintenance issue if nothing else but try the N position and just at and just past the Park position may help troubleshoot the NSS. When/if you do the NSS soak that thing with PB Blaster or something and try not to pry on it when attempting to coax it off. They are more easily breakable than one would think. Good Luck! -

WTB: instrument cluster (with gauges) for column shift

Shift indicator...Not my best work....but.... the resetting of the odometer was -
Any good column repair guy worth his salt can fix these...old GM stuff. Ask a local lock-smith or body -shop for a recommendation. I ended up replacing the entire column ( got one off eBay ) for the last MJ. The PO was attempting to try out for the new McGuyver series.... fours switches and two rockers controlled everything except the horn and the key switch. And it was a 5-speed...so it sorta sealed the deal that nobody else in my family could drive it!

Sound like you are close to the problem. Usually needed depending on the brand: 12V, 12V switched, ground, maybe dimmer Change it up. Run your power direct and add and in-line fuse. You've got the cig lighter feed and even the hot feed for the fan is right there if you don't want to run extra cable from the fuse box. My preference is to run separate. It can get unsightly if you don't keep it neat but then you don't worry about it affecting something else. Good Luck!

Updated 3 inch lift kit
ScottJeep replied to MJDigger-CT's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am a cheap ( three kids in college ) CL hunter.... JKS ASOC / 2" Springs / RC Drop Brackets up front (springs new...actually all new but from CL so saved $$) RC shocks all round ( new, cheapest, lifetime warranty ) AAL ( can't remember exactly where) brake lines snagged when RockAuto had huge sale. 265/75/16 Bridgestones on 16" MOABS ( get deal on tires...discont....MOABs off CL ) -
On the subject of wheels/tires
ScottJeep replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just sometimes gotta be in the right place at the right time. 4 16" MOABs with tires.... $225.00 CL find. And the super cool guy held them for me until I was out his way. Also had the MOABs on a prior XJ and run them on the 05' KJ. Always like the RAVINEs as well and ECCOs are doable just not a first choice. -
The grooving sounds like an issue that is usually experienced on the FRONT of the motor caused by the seal on the front cover. Have never had to use the kit, some of which include the sleeve.
