The Mj and zj are essentially the same from the x-member forward, there are minor differences, but the same, I don't see why you couldn't just take everything and swap it over. Might take a lil fabbing here and there, but would be very doable

Is you rig a LWB or SWB? Anyways nice project and keep up the good work. What is your ultimate goal for it?

good 6.5" lift...ideas for a bolton kit?
pingpong replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
All joking aside.. I believe in the low look, thats why I cut sheetmetal, or do away with it  You can get Bushwacker flares or TJ flares and make it look clean. I would hate for you to keep it SUA and be unhappy with the way it rides. -
Nice rigs... Love the FSJ Sounds like you have a solid plan. Are you going to narrow the front D44, and what kinda suspension you going to run?

The turning radias question is kinda easy to answer.... The MJ has a longer wheel base, so no it won't turn as easily if that is what you are talking about... they use the same steering box, so there should be no difference there. I really don't know about the A/C thing. The seat thing is not as easy as it seems. the bolt pattern for the mounts is different then the XJ, and the MJ's floor slopes up and as far as I know no one makes/sells brackets to bolt XJ seats into a MJ. As for the accesories... Personally I try to make as much stuff as I can for my rig, Maybe someone else will chime in on this

Rear sliding window installation questions
pingpong replied to ORCA's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would personally pay the pro's to do it... can't be but so much. I had a real problem when I pulled my rear window, as I planned on trying to sell it, but it broke while trying to remove it. I am not sure what the factory used, but man was it a PITA to remove -
Xj seats do not bolt in. The floor pans are different between the XJ and MJ. There are several ways to accomplish this swap, the easiest is to find MJ buckets, or fab your own. I know the last is might not be an option. I know this topic has been coverred, and maybe someone with some more insight will chime in and give you more details

I personally think sheet metal is optional.... and only needed to keep it street legal  -
tomken front rock bumper, updated (installed)

Whenever we get a chance to catch up with each other, I will help you modify your jeep some more  -
I am here to tell you.. everything in my driveway has a price.... Including Pong.... wether or not someone would pay it is another matter. :brows:

Well this is happening everywhere, and we as a 4 wheel drive community must police ourselves, or the Govt will. Those kids in that interview probrably hurt the image of Offorad enthusist more then anything else. I hope park rangers and police patrol that area, and start impounding ATV and vehicles alike

I seen a bunch of trail No No's in that video.. like ppl standing next to a rig in an off camber spot, and ppl sticking not only their head, but whole upper torso out the rig. All the same looked like a good ride

I hear what you are saying about the liability factor with the insurance company. I am sure they would not look into weather or not your vegicle came SOA, or SUA unless your rear axle fell out your vehicle and caused an accident. If you are truly worried about that.. break out the sawzall, and make it fit the 33's with 2" of lift like I did back in the day Granted I had no uptravel, and the bed needed some more trimming, but it worked -
This is how I had mine mounted back in the day

Naxja wants to be like Pirate :brows: If I want to do a search I go to pirate... everything you want/need/should know is there. Granted you have to wade through a bunch of flame posts as well, but you can find the answers easier
-
I would have sold it

Love the look of 35's on 3" better lifting through cutting Just bumpstop the front and set it up for max down travel

well, my day job is computers. At the time I was young, had too much money and liked to play video games. It was also a challenge. engineering a water cooling system to dissipate the kind of thermal energy I was developing was pretty cool. I'm going to type some stuff now, your eyes will likely roll into your skull. A duron 600 thunderbird core dissipates about 80W of heat from a die smaller than a dime. After I upped the core voltage and the clock speed I figured mine was putting out about 170W of heat. In order to keep the transistors stable at that kind of core voltage you have to keep it running real cool. the chips were specced to run at 85* C, but that was the top of the thermal limits. Mine ran nominally at about 55C. but this was after quite a bit of engineering, and a 300 GPH pump feeding into a large heatercore. The thermal load was sufficient to heat my room. Just think of it like rockcrawling for nerds, there's no NEED for you to truggy a perfectly good MJ, you just got there because it was an end to a means. Ok so let me get this straight... you put a Clock in your computer :???: Then you heated your room with the heat off of it :dunno: I guess tis is why I never made it as a nerd

Its a vinyl wrap.... I am not sure of the price, but I imagine several hundred. Its the latest rage for the trucks to do it. I think its a nice jeep for someone who wants a vehicle to access hunting roads, and that is what it was built for
-
Whats the benefit.... I know I am going to get flamed for that question ;) I thought your computer was supposed to be used for surfing porn and posting on the forums

Back to Eagle comments, I have been trying to get theft insurance for Pong, just cause of the amount of money I have tied up in parts, and my insurance agent is still (15 months) after asking trying to find a policy that covers me, thats still allows me to use Pong for what he is being built for.

Its the injectors firing.. normal.... at least on my junk :brows:

Was this in a stock vehicle? Have you had the speedo calibrated? Was there anyone around you? If the answer to these questions are NO.. then you are screwed
-
The way I do it, is unbolt front driveshaft... (make sure vehicle is supported well) remove the LCA bolts at the frame, and replace the UCA bolts then when it comes to getting the lowers, have them attatched at the axle end, and use a pry bar, or push with your feet till you can get the rear part in place. works great, but so does the wrench and bottle jack :D

That would have been one of those situations where I would have had brake problems as my rig drilled the other car :brows:
