  1. I made my own on POng using a APC air filter, 6" piece of exhaust tubing, 2 steel 1/4 air chucks and a piece of scrap angle

Just thought of this... A yj d30 would be perfect
  3. Forgot to add that there is a chance I might start making a moutning system to put buckets in a MJ using XJ seats. Lastly I think a semi-bolt on front leaf conversion kit would be sick and sell well, so if there is someone somewhat local to me that is willing to help design and fab this let me know via PM so we can get together on it.
  4. That bumper doesnt look too hard to make either.. I don't know what they charge for it, but I am sure it is too much

All I have to say is solid axle swap :smart: Yopu know you want too :D
  6. The reason why I don't want to use "c" channel is cause while it worked great on my first design, this time I want to put the reciever in the center, it just gives more area to weld to, plus it is more finished looking, at least in my opinion. That and I went a lil thinner then I would with the "c"channel. The c channel I would go 1/4 instead of 3/16. The other main reason is... the tubing I don't use making bumpers, I could use to make rock rails out of. Kinda a dual purpose size tubing. You are right that the tubing is almost 2x the price of "c" channel per stick, but it just doesn't look finished to me. After I build one, I am going to have it weighed, and set up an account with DHL for shipping where they charge me a buisness rate, and pick it up at my door, instead of me having to tack on what it costs me to transport them to the nearest shipping center (45 or so miles away). As far as deposits go... I am buying the steel this week. I plan on making brackets next weekend after Jeff comes by and I make up a jig. The first batch of bumpers should be ready in the next month. After I make the first bumper, and figure the actual cost I will publish a price, and I will take it from there. I expect shipping to be somewhere between around 75, but it might come in less if I can ship all the bumpers at once, cause there is a pick up fee from DHL if I am not mistaken. After this comes to market, I will be making matching rock rails. To answer the question about the tabs... I can buy them locally and they are made out of 3/4 plate and are of good quality, but by the time I fit them and make them as strong as the "d" rings are and you buy a shackle it would have been cheaper to have me put the "d" rings on. That being said this is a customer driven venture, and I will do my best to customize the bumper to suit your needs
  7. Thats cool Rabdy is a good guy. Bring that on by the house when you come down... I think I might have some beefier plate to beef it up in the mounting area by then. I don't know what Tomken charges for that bumper, but it looks to be made out of 1/8 stuff, and if you are a jeep abuser or use your bumper as a ramp... It will bend :brows: The front of my Rigid CO bumper has some nice dents in it, and it is made out of 1/4 :hmm:
  8. yeah all the cool kids paint their stuff flat black :brows:
  9. So far the numbers I am getting back from the steel suppliers are going to put the bumper around 250 plus shipping For a basic design. That is using 2x4x3/16 tubing, with 1/4 mounting plates, and a reciever Hitch. I would have to make the "d" rings an option that ppl would have to pay extra for.
  10. What kinda price ar you looking at? I know everyone wants it as cheap as possible, but steel is right expensive, and so are materials.
  11. This is kinda a question for those who are really interested in buying a bumper. Would you all prefer it with rock rails? With D-rings or with out? The d-rings cost around 10 bucks a piece Depending on the size and weight rating Made out of "C" Channel or Rectanguler tubing? Tubing would be easier to beef up, and would naturally have a more finished look, would also be cool with the reciever mounted almost flush
  12. Just have a custom SS one made. It will save you the time and money in the long run. I think my custom 36" for the rear was like 54 bucks a year and a half ago

don't they make longer beams to correct the camber stuff
  14. Well I work in a papermill, in the powerplant dept. Needless to say between breathing coal dust, and dealing with Black Green and white liquor (all have PH's above 10), and steam that is super heated and presurized... its a good job
  15. The way I designed my first bumper was so it sat flush with the tail gate, and I had wrap around rock rails. They worked great on my rig, but when jeff got the bumper he didnt want/need the rails on the side, thats why his is cut down. I got a bunch of ideas in my head, and as soon as Jeff and I can meet up, and I can make up a jig, you all will start seeing the different style bumpers I have in mind. I have a tube bumper in mind that will be kinda slick, and offer some corner and tail light protection, then there will be the one similar to what Jeff has now, and I have an idea for a step style bumper as well, but that will be the last one I make any of
  16. Here are the linke I used when I did the swap on Pong a while back, before I decided to go 1 ton http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/ford88.html this pretty much covers everything. I eventually ended up doing the XJ prop valve, and that was only cause when we back halved my rig the line broke
  17. You going to be able to ride on out in 2 weeks to the house
  18. Gotcha.... I know Copperhead Fab took a while on mine, and Ballastic fab took forever getting me my stuff
  19. Jeff I thought you were holding out for some 33's  I think I wil be stripping one of my rigs here soon and I might have a set available
  20. They are basically going to be the same style design, but instead of 2x4x1/4 "C" channel, I thought of going with 2x4x3/16 tubbing. The reciever hitch will be centered and recessed. The d-rings will be an OPtion as will the rock rails. I suppose I could make it so it doesnt sit flush, but that would require some more beef in the mounting area, and as Jeff pointed out... this thing weighed in at probrbaly close to 100pounds with the rails, and it was pure beef. Jeff if you want come on by the house and we will cut your lowers and reweld the rail portion and get you basher friendly, plus it will give me a chance to get some measurements. As for sketches.. My drawing ability sucks, and all my ideas float around in my head. All is good till I step out in the garage and start laying it out on steel, then it is on Like donkey kong  As for what to step on when climbing in the rear of the bed.... who uses their bed to carry stuff anymore
  21. My job is very easy.. out of the 8hrs I am on the clock, I might only work 2-3 hrs. The bad thing is it is hot as hell, and getting steam burns and chemical burned are kinda the norm.
  22. I am waitng on getting some measurements, and place a steel order. These bumpers will be built to be bashed, and will come with a reciever style hook-up as well as the option for some heavy duty d-rings. Realistically these are 2-3 months out from being available to the general public. They will be designed to sit flush with the rear of the tailgate as well, and I can also fab it so it can have intergrated rock rails. Kinda like the way Pong's rear bumber was...
  23. who did you order from?
  24. IT just came :D now I have to get off my lazy @$$ and pour some concrete so I can make a mounting spot  Then go buy some tubing and start playing. I think I am going to order a Bend tech program before I start doing anything hard
  25. Gotcha... Hopefully I will have the time and the money to finish Pong this year
