yet another AX-15 swap question
pingpong replied to HKB3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
YUP what he said :agree: Not sure how you plan on hooking up your shifters one you do the doubler, but might be able to use the stock shifter when it comes to the 231 range box HI Jeff -
One of the local yards I frequent told me that if the car is not disposed of in the prescribed time limit (180 days) the junk yard is responsible for the CFC money. Most yards that run the CFC cars through know that the main money lies in the scrap. No value in mechanical parts, so he just picks them up pulls the g-tank, and sometimes the axles (if it is a 2.5) and crush. No need to really hold on to them as there is no real value in 20 yr old interiors

There is another complete set of holes. You have to run a 10x1.5(iirc) through the second set of holes. I did the same swap on my junk. As for the linkage. You need the body mount part as well as all the link pieces. I ultmately ended up making my own lower link out of all thread and a 1/4 hiem for adjustability. I have a TJ t-case and of course they are clocked flatter. I shall fix this with a 231/231 doubler which should make for a nice short d/shaft one I get around to do my HP44/9" swap Then it will be on like donkey kong

what would a 4cly with 3.09 be like?
pingpong replied to comanche13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have the 4 cylinder with 3,55's and it is aq dog with 31's. I do plan on swapping in some 4.10's once I find another front axle. -
Make sure you grab all the t-case linkage off of the donor vehicle, as well as the x member they are different.
-
Check to see if your firwall by the fuse block is wet.. if so you have a leaking clutch master cylinder... if not more then likely it is your clutch slave cylinder

Joe... I can relate. I am not in the hospital, I am at hoem with a broken leg and a broken foot. On different legs :help: So I am limited on where I can go, especailly since I can't drive. :???: ANyways Get better dude.

I think with rockwells as axles 7to1 in the t-cases give it helluva low firsy gear. ON my truggy I am doing the Jed's machine 203/d300 doubler. With new 203 to 300 output, it was 600 shipped. Of course this will be tripple sticked, But I am going to make my own cable shifters for it though. I will have 1 to 1 2 to 1 1 to 2.64 1 to 5.28 With the option of ading a 4 to 1 to the d300 for an ultimate low of 8 to 1. Also be able to do front digs

Man.. that would be easy to play soldier 3 or 4 days a week :???: I didnt realise you all north of the border did it differently.

All inclusive Long Arm upgrade thread:
pingpong replied to jpnjim's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Why not? I have the RK 3 link setup, and it handles great. I don't have a hell of a lot of road miles on it... but from what I have driven it on the road it does fine and handles like a lifted jeep. -
Not sure how long your AIT is, but mine was mine was 36 weeks long. Talk about the cadre and DI's messing with you. We had weekly wall locker, and daily uniform inspections. As well as the stress of going to school, and having to memorize tech specs on communication equipment... talk about a stressful time. The bad thing was.. once I got to my permament duty station.. I was told forget everything I was taught, we will show you the right way to do things. I don't know if I was lucky, or unlucky I got stationed in Panama.  All I can say it is a bad idea to send a 19yr old to a foriegn country with lil to no supervision.

I wouldnt be so sure of that. When I went through basic Sept 91, we had reserveist and guardsmen going through basic with us. To me you are going at the wrong time of the yr. Winter... ITs bad enough to be tired and wet.. I couldnt imagine be cold tired and wet. Seriously.. the best advice I can give you is start conditioning yourself now. Get up at 0430 and go for a run, of at least 2 miles. and start doing push ups every half mile. I have a friend who was a drill in the army. He said that they used to give us the half right face while running so they could catch their breathe. As stated above it is all a mind game. The first 2-3 weeks will be common task training, and drill and ceremony. During this phase you will be tasked with memorising crap that has no real bearing on the world as you know it now, but in the military world...who the CSM of the Army matters. Also pay attention to detail. The cadre will tell you things, and want it done a certain way... thats what they expect, it to be done that way. Phase two will be ranges. This is when you get to do all the cool stuff in basic. Shooting the M16 is great, shooting the Saw is better. The m203 can bruise you if not shot right. Throwing the grenades.. well that was a stressful time, but fun all the same. Phase 3.. well that is when you do your long ruck march, and put everything you learned together in a feild training excercise. THis is why I say the winter time is the wrong time to do basic. You will spend 3-5 days in the field digging fighting positions, and practice squad fighting techniques. Also you will have the big inspection, and practice for graduation. Graduation day will be the most memorable day of your life, and it will mean the most to you. Good luck

Jeff keeps his stuff crazy clean. I don't have any pics of Jeffs motor in my crap, thats is why I said that motor looks familar. I too had a chopped top s10 lowrider back in the day. Mine leaked also. I ended up trading it for another rig. -
Glad you have had luck with them. I have a blue top, and a yellow top that both have bad cells in them. Of course the blue top was in my trail only rig, but it gave up the ghost after 3yrs. The yellow top gave up after 5 yrs. of course can't find receipts, and advance has no records of selling them to me :huh???:

Thats fine... ban me for trying to make a smart finacial decision for my family
-
The memories of basic training. Lack of sleep, being yelled at..never doing it fast enough/good enough. Yup them were the days.

This is a very hard swap to accomplish with the right tools and knowledge. I think you need to buy the parts, and learn more before you even attempt this swap. -
IT just amazed me at some of the vehicles that CFC'd. I almost CFC'd my black SWB rig. It just missed the mileage by 1mpg. I looked at it as a buisness decision. I was all ready buying my wife a vehicle. It was a 2010 Chevy equinox, and of course I looked into it.. I only had 900 in my rig... so it was a good investment if it panned out.
-
I know of one or two tugs used as trail rigs, with the diesels. They are just bad a$$. Just swap in some rock jock axles, and add a cage and a custom tube bed, Sell the weights on it for clean scrap.

Happy Thanksgiving. Today is the perfect day to reflect on all the Blessings God has given us in our lives.

Yes no steering box. everything from the drag link down. If you take the rear axle... don't forget to get the e-brake cables, and spring plates. The f250 leaf springs will have way to much spring rate for a light truck like a MJ. As Pete suggested.. add an anti-wrap bar, and call it good. -
CFC'd!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? YUP  Some of the dealerships got creative in way to get ppl to crush rigs. I know chrysler was offering to double it, then some dealers were sugar coating that. So it was almost possible to get a car for nothing. Figure 9 grand off plus other incentives...wow sounds tempting to me now
