  1. Well.. the motor spins clockwise, but, it depends on which side of the RMS you're hitting. If you're spinning the motor clockwise, you should be tapping on the passenger side of the RMS.

    AX-15 Wanted

I recommend getting a 94+ for the external slave setup, if you get the chance.
  3. Just make sure they're spinning it the right way.
  4. The first year for the larger pilot tip was actually 92, not 91. Just put a 91 4.0 in front of a 98 AX-15, and we needed the CJ bushing. Your driveshafts will be fine, the Pukey and AX-15 are the same length. You will need a 23 spline T-case for your AX-15, the one on your pukey will not bolt up. You'll need the AX-15's slave. I recommend looking for a 94+ AX-15 bellhousing/bearing retainer/clutch fork to get an external setup. AX-15 crossmember would be a good idea, since you'll need a new mount anyway. You shouldn't have to move the crossmember back, the Pukey should be on the middle and back holes.
  5. I loosened the last 4 bearing caps, and had someone turn the motor as I tapped the upper seal out. Worked great, just wear good safety glasses, and keep your mouth closed, unless you like the taste of oil.
  6. I think it looks better that way.
  7. The tip of the input shaft for the pilot bushing is a different size. Otherwise, for your reverse switch, if the plugs are different, simply swap the 92's reverse switch in on the 90. What's wrong with 3rd gear?
  8. How much did that run you? I've needed one on too many occasions to count..
  9. Can't say I've ever owned a NAPA receipt. With the way they are, I doubt I ever will.
  10. Is your knock sensor plugged in? I've read that if it's unplugged, it can cause the ECU to make it run in some sort of "safe mode"
  11. Get a long AAL. They're stronger and won't sag nearly as much. Even with a short, you still have to take your leaf pack apart. You need a longer center pin, and even a short AAL would still need to go on top of the overload leaf.
  12. The ignition switch is at the base of the column. You should be able to get parts from XJs with no problem. It was just a passing thought, if you turn off the blower, then I'd imagine the truck would start if that was the issue. I'll have to let one of the electric gurus chime in and say if what I suggest is feasible or not. Certainly can't hurt to at least take a look at the ignition switch though.
  13. I only mention it, because the heater fan and ignition are connected at that point. In my first 88 XJ, my ignition switch went out. Blower fan didn't work (truck still ran). I'm not electricity expert, but the blower motor may be pulling power from the ignition system when it's turned on, and killing the truck. :dunno:

  15. Could be worse, I used to have a few extra D35s sitting around... Now I just have a bunch of 8.25s.
  16. You don't need to remove the fuse box to remove it.
  17. I'm assuming you've done this?
  18. They're always paranoid. About everyone. I had a cop, who was issuing me a written warning for speeding, think that my tire pressure gauge sitting in the passenger dash compartment was a crack pipe.
  19. After the big fuss you made about getting rid of the XJ and going the way of the YJ?
  20. Yup, in the fuse box. Pull it out and throw it away. The only bad thing about that, is it's no longer able to remind you if you left your headlights on or not.
  21. If you can't get ahold of him, and he hasn't bothered to at least let you know that he hasn't found something to ship it after a year, I'd say it's yours to do whatever with. Keep it, sell it, whatever. If he eventually finds you, tell him he took way too long, and the $100 he can consider a storage fee for something he no longer has.
