The one with the rat tail is the coolant temp sender for the ECU, and the one with the plug that looks like an injector plug is the knock sensor.

I'd still have to drive it here. If I could get ahold of a car dolly, and someone to drive the XJ down for me, I could probably do it. Neight MJ is baby-friendly, so the XJ has to go. You have a driver here... :D Rob L. I will keep that in mind. Still need a car dolly and would really like a lower geared axle in the 4.0 before I do it though.

You'll need the HO downpipe too, or you won't have anywhere to mount your 02 sensor.

It'll be tricky. GF isn't supposed to drive, so we couldn't just both drive down here two of the trips. Plus, the 2.5 needs a new rear axle. Even if I put fluid in it, I don't think that poor 35 would survive another 560 miles. I'll just have to convince my brother to come down one of these times, then I could probably finagle something out with a tow dolly. Hopefully not too much. Even a good running 86 isn't worth more than a couple hundred bucks.

Selectrac = 242, correct?
Geonovast replied to Geonovast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They've got a very shiny 1995 Country edition, 118k on the ticker, but they're asking 4 grand. If it's still there by the time we get the money, hopefully I can go in there and talk them down a bit. -
Because my MJs are both still in WI

The 83-XJ must refer to a mold number, just went out and peeked at mine, and it also says T-83 XJ. Where is the truck itself located? In a few days when I *hopefully* get the oil leak fixed maybe I can run up and take a look at it with you.
-
83 XJ? :hmm: Also, what part of MO are you in?
-
That is pretty harsh. Wasn't meaning to be harsh, I apologize if it came out that way. I've driven ZJs, never really liked them. I went to an "expo" at a local Jeep Dealership in 04, and they were showing off the WJ, promising they'd never make a bigger or bulkier Jeep just to keep up with the other companies. (Then again, they also had an article in the paper teasing about bringing the MJ back) Then they made the WK(Also not a fan of IFS). Personally, I'll most likely not own anything but XJs or MJs in the reasonably far future, but to each his own.

I think you'll be happier with a late-model XJ. Personally, I'm staying away from the entire line of Grands. Not a fan of the ZJ or WJ, and the WK is just a joke.

Just want to make sure my terminology is correct. We stopped by a dealership here in Camdenton today, since we'll be buying a newer XJ in the next couple of months. They have 5 XJs sitting outside, ranging from 1995-2000, all 4.0s, 4 of them automatics. Two of the autos are advertised with Selec-trac 4wd, but I looked in the windows and they both had 2HI - 4HI - N - 4LO. Am I wrong or do I need to stop in and correct them?

Front Wheel Alignment Problem... Weird
Geonovast replied to comanche09's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yup, simple toe adjustment will fix that. Just remember... do the alignment with the truck on the ground and nothing jacked up, at all. If you do, the alignment will not be adjusted correctly. They're very easy to do, I did one in the parking lot at work on my lunch break, basically with one hand as it was the day after I accidentally stabbed myself in my left arm. -
Re Worded transmission problem post.. Help
Geonovast replied to 19comanche87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
How's the fluid? You are right, there's no vacuum controls on the AW-4. It's controlled by its own computer. Do you have a power/comfort button? If so, is there any difference, between the settings? -
If you re-word it into something that more closely resembles English it might help us out a bit.

front end shaking....I give up....update 10/15
Geonovast replied to oldrusty's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Wheel balance Wheel bearings Ball joints U-joints Trackbar bushing or TRE Steering TREs Control Arm Bushings Control Arm themselves Very bad toe alignment Bad tires(not necessarily unbalance) from a horrible toe in alignment I've even seen out of balance front driveshafts on NON-CAD axles cause a bit of shaking. -
If the tach is reading anything other than 0 when the motor isn't running, the gauge itself is junk.

I believe they originally came from a late 80's Bronco II, but not entirely sure. I got them off an XJ. The center hole on these were slightly larger than the Jeep ones, I also needed to get different lug nuts for them.
-
Cherokee Shackles are significantly shorter than MJ shackles. With those all the way out you could expect may 1 1/2" of lift out of your MJ, definitely not worth the cost IMO.

vacum disconnect + and - 's
Geonovast replied to 1990 Pioneer 4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You can use it to "unlock/lock" a locked Dana 30, however, when it's unlocked, it does not act exactly like a selectable. -
Made it to MO just fine, but had to dump oil into it on the way. Luckily the 5 quart jugs of 20w-50 are only like 7 bucks at Wal Mart. I think I figured out where it's coming from. There'd been a bend in the pan on one corner of the hump for the oil pump, and we'd flattened it back out pretty good, and I put some RTV on that corner when I installed the pan. We'd stopped so I can plug the CAD lines back on, I noticed a huge smear of oil on that part of the pan. That obviously wouldn't be there if it was the RMS leaking. Hopefully I can get that fixed in the next week.
