http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php Search for 1987 Jeep Comanche. Drill down to Body-Interior, Carpet. ACC makes great replacement carpet and Rock Auto sells it for cheap. 116387CUTPILEMB is the main part number for the mass back factory style version for about $155. I put replacement carpet into my 1996 XJ from ACC. It requires trimming the edges to fit and cutting the necessary openings for bolts. Otherwise the fit of the carpet is nearly perfect.

Yep, 5x5" bolt pattern and 6.25" backspacing on the JK Moab rims. I am ordering 5x4.5" to 5x5" adapters that are 1.25" thick. That will change the 6.25" backspacing right to the 5" I want which is the same as the TJ Moab rims. -

I have a bunch of photographs waiting to be released in a huge batch. I made lots of progress with the interior that was on hold while I was away on a work trip. However, I did pick up these set of five JK 17" Moab rims and Goodyear Wrangler tires with roughly 65% tread left. The rims are in perfect condition. One has a minor blemish from a wheel weight that can easily be removed with a clay bar. -

If I had the $6,000 on me I would buy it and store it in my garage to love on. :D -
Get the air bag system checked by the dealership.

Google provides free Gmail for domains. So I have @nonamestudios.com provided by Google. Just takes some DNS changes at the domain registrar to set it up. Then you can set up tons of accounts.

Craigslist usually has sets of four for around $200 each, $50 a rim.

Towing the comanche with a tow dolly
Alexia replied to Virginia's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ummm ... not, that's not the reason. The Neutral position disconnects the transfer case from the transmission because the transmission would not lubricate properly (especially the automatic), but the transfer case will lubricate just fine -- which is why the factory procedure for flat towing is simply to put the transfer case in Neutral and go. The problem arises when the rear wheels are on the ground and need to turn, but the front wheels are on a dolly and CAN'T turn ... and the front and rear driveshafts are locked together. As mvusse pointed out, Jeep changed this a few years later, but this is true for ALL years of the MJ. The angle of the drive train while on the dolly, more so while lifted on a tow truck, can cause the front of the transfer case to become starved of lubrication. This is why this warning still exists in the owner's manual even on current Jeeps. I am aware the oil pump does pump while the rear drive shaft spins, but it can not pump very well if the outputs on the pump are blocked by fluid. -

The main reason for disconnecting the drive shaft with a tow dolly is that the transfer case will not lubricate correctly. -
Lug nuts are the same for all Jeeps 1984 to current. It actually goes further back, but there are some differences. There is this set of Gorilla nuts. Includes all the necessary lug nuts plus a set of locking ones. http://www.quadratec.com/products/92806_900X_PG.htm

Motor and transmission bolts and hardware

http://www.mcmaster.com/# I found the obscure flat head, tapered seat, hex socket, metric, fine thread bolts for my AEV skid plate there. There is also Lowes and Home Depot. -
I like that method of referring to the cam type. It would make shopping for Jeep 242 cam shafts a lot easier!

Thanks! Just did some more. :D I finalized the repair to the defrost flap on the HVAC box. Some additional glue and a slightly larger screw securely fastened the arm to the flap. -

Rubicon Express control arm drop brackets came in this morning. The metal is so thick they would probably tear apart the unibody before getting hurt. -

How is yours broken? The arm was broken on the shaft of mine. It was a pretty simple fix. The half star shaft on the flap snapped off inside the plastic arm. I have a bigger screw it now and it works smoother pressing it manually, but I have not taken it outside to the other Jeep to test it yet. -

Short arm setup with RE's drop brackets. Tire size is unknown at this time, but I have a general idea. Probably going to do a 33" tire to avoid trimming too much. -

Garage is not insulated so the past two weeks it has been 110F out there. Also went to visit PA to finally see my grandmother's grave.(Couldn't make the funeral, but I spent a bunch of time with her beforehand since we knew it was coming.) :P I have been cleaning lots of parts in the living room. Not exactly update worthy material. The HVAC unit, if I can get the defrost flap repaired properly I am going to have to source another. -
A 4.0L with transmission and accessories is around 750 pounds.
