Alexia's 1987 To 1997 Comanche
Alexia replied to Alexia's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
One of the freeze plugs is leaking. Ugh! I will know if my dumb repair works in about four hours after the gasket shellac dries and I refill the coolant I recovered. -
Definitely not Krylon Fusion! SEM makes excellent spray paints that will adhere excellent to plastic.

I bought a Pacesetter header since it looked like a good deal. The down pipe comes down angling up towards the floor and frame rail. It is dangerously close to the transmission line and the placement of the oxygen sensor bung interferes with the lines. I think I am going to put a right angle piece to dump the exhaust below the frame rail and get a muffler shop to fix it once it can drive again. The quality on this piece is questionable. :/ -
You can get the freeze plug out, but you need the swinging room to get the new one in place. Time to take intake and exhaust off!

What's The Best Oil Filter To Use?
Alexia replied to 88blackpearl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Mobil 1 is simply the best. I run them when I can get them on sale as part of an oil package deal. Wix or any store brands manufactured by Wix are good. I have trouble finding them so I get packs delivered. -
They look like the fake adhesive mounted hood pins.
-
The VIN should be seventeen characters long. Someone left the 1 off the beginning of your VIN. Also, the J does not stand for Japan. It stands for Jeep.
-
The front axle will not work. You can make the rear axle work, but it is a full width axle so your wheels would stick out more. It will require welding and modifications either way.
-
Getting the store front(IP.Nexus) integrated with IPS is easy. They just charge a lot of money($75) for their Nexus solution.

I drove over five hours one way in horrible rain to pick up my LJ. I drove past two wrecked Jeeps along the way and saw a Wrangler rear end another vehicle during the drive. One of the wrecks was bad enough that they had people holding up blue tarps. Yeah, I have to be responsible about upsetting the previous owner. RockinMJ hangs out on here. :D

I bought a set of Taskforce that comes in a carrying case. Which is basically the cheaper version of Kobalt tools. It covers the majority of repairs that would need to be done under the hood or the interior. It would not cover fixing anything that broken on the suspension.
-
Swapping the axle - 3. Just requires more than one jack to make it easier. Preferably a floor jack and a bottle jack for axle positioning. Installing the 4WD shifter - 2. Lots of interior to disassemble and pieces to keep track of. Swapping the transmission - 5. Technically this is really easy. However, if you do not have the jacks or muscle to get it into place paying a shop to do is usually cost effective.

89 MJ Totalled, the Resurrection!
Alexia replied to xjtrailrider's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
It looks like the left front of the bed is sitting too low. A few fender washers could level that out. At least, that is what it looks like from the pictures. -
$1,600 for that rust bucket even WITH the wheels? No way.
-
Yes, 1997-2001. The older XJ lever will just sit centered.
-
This is the XJ lever. That is correct, it just bolts to the floor and you use the stock MJ brake cable from the brake handle to the splitter outside the cab.
-
I would love to live there for some time. Awwww, daw!

Dummy Axle From 2Wd Worth Anything?
Alexia replied to darkenfire's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
People who do Jeepspeed love them. However, I could go to the junkyard and pick up four of them today. Two wheel drive Jeeps are usually scrapped for the lightest of crashes. -
Oil Pouring Out Air Filter
Alexia replied to 87mjdriver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Two typical causes, one silly and one dramatic. 1.) The lines from the air box to the valve or PCV to intake manifold are possibly clogged. 2.) You should do a compression test on each cylinder. It sounds like there is a failing piston ring. If caught now it could be a swap out the rings job instead of replace the motor job. Unexplained and sudden higher oil pressure usually means something is clogging an oil galley. Such as a piece of metal that broke off somewhere else. -
19Lb/hr Injectors. How Many Choices?
Alexia replied to 1987Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Bosch 0280155710; 18.9lb/hr @ 39psi & 21.2lb/hr @ 49psi This has a really good resource for all types of injectors. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/definitive-injector-swap-how-1305456/ -
Remember that parking brake swap we did so I could have a worthless unit to cut up? Parking Brake Paint Detail Top Parking Brake Adapter - Cut the entry point for the parking brake cable off the MJ firewall brake mechanism and bolted it on. The distance from there to the cable holding matches perfectly. (Note: I ended up adding a second bolt hole to stiffen the adapter.) Cut off the hump that normally sticks down through the floor pan since it is unneeded.

I currently have 27~ pound injectors. I may need upwards of 32 pounds with the supercharger. For electronics Chris at http://christuned.com/ is one of the few that can adjust the stock PCM. From there it looks like the AEM F/IC 6 is a good choice. These electronics are expensive so I will be definitely waiting until after the holiday to do all of this since I know my nephews are expecting presents. :P -
Left side of the vehicle next to the air box with the three big plugs.

Do you mean for installing before the first start? I intend to do the engine break in without it to avoid the issue that I probably do not have the correctly sized injectors or any tuning for it yet.
