Woo Hoo! We're number 4! We're number4!

The Comanche made #4 on JP magazine's 10 best junk Jeeps. "Junk" in this article means "someone else's Jeep that they think is a piece of junk so you can buy it for cheap and turn it into a great wheeler". In other words: great buys. We're behind only the YJ, XJ, and SJ on the list.

My favorite quote: "If the truck runs at all and doesn't smoke or knock, grab it..."

yea but pete did you see how jp said to stay away from the 86 year because of no easy engine swaps. well they got a nice little note from me when i read that!:headpop: they must not know about the 3.4L swap. i mean come on, i love my 86 even if for right now it has the 2.8L (3.2L) still in it.

P.S. hey pete i might get my hands on one of those 6WD M35A2s.

Yeah its number 4. That means everyione who reads JP magazine think they have something worth some money  That means less 100-500 buck ones for me to abuse

You can find duece and a halfs in running condition for as lil as 1500. The key is to make sure that DRMO hasn't swapped in all junk parts to make it a complete truck.

I drove one of these in the service. These things are pure beasts, but don't expect to hold any speed on any type of steep grade, especially when towing. Besides that they also have a hard time getting up to 55, let alone any faster. I think a new diesel and some higher gears in the axles or maybe a different trans would make it do better.

If anyone wants to know about the M35A2 trucks, let me know and I will fill you in about them. They are getting more expensive as DRMO has lost the bid to Govliquidation to auction the military surplus. A lot more exposure and everybody wants one now.

But what does that leave?

TJ? ZJ? CJ? M715???

Not too many Jeeps left that someone would think is "Junk" and not worth anything and yet still be mainsteam enough to be able to be found.

the others in the list are:

5: Jeepster Commando

pete you forgot what was above the MJ.

3: 87-95 2.5L YJs

2: 87-94 4.0L XJs

and can we all guess what number one is....

1: ANY FSJ Waggy or Cherokee 62-91

there it is the whole list. idk bout the rest of you guys but i would put the J-Trucks before the FSJ waggy or cherokee, just because i want a truck. :D but of course the best to have to make a real off-roader is the M-715s.... or that 6x6 M35A2. 8)

Somebody on ifsja.org was doing a 6x6 conversion on a J3000 or M715. It looked pretty cool. I don't know that he's got any farther with it, though.

Anyways, J-trucks are cool. I'm still tempted to pick up the one that I know is for sale...

I know where a nice running J-truck is reasonable. Problem is... it has a few rust spots, and there is almost no replacement panles that are cheap available. That means if I buy it... It would end up being chopped up and made into another trail rig :brows:

The one I know of has some rust on the bed. Had it been the front fenders I'd have signed the check... But the bed, $#!&, where am I going to get one of those?

I'll just hold off for now. Or hit the reserve and see if there's anything out there if I really get the itch. Nah, I've probably got enough to do already.

You know....Ive been looking for a manche for a while now, just recently find this forum. As part of my search I would regularly cruise ebay. Ive noticed since damn JP put the manchie at #4 the prices have jumped much higher than I had been seeing them before. Maybe its my imagination. But its sad that I can get a restorable M-715 (my first jeep truck love) cheaper than a restorable manche.

I would buy a M715 before I would buy a MJ. Lets see how that build would go... rockwells, 52 XML's, dual cases, if not 3 cases  Full cage, and a few other goodies :brows: Wheeling a MJ is cool, but wheeling a M715 is cooler :chillin: jamminz.gif
