Replacement Leafs

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into ordering new leaf packs from general spring. Does anyone have experience with either of the options for weight capacity? There's a 1250lb and 1700lb option. I'm curious if i might gain lift out of the 1700 and if it will be suboptimal for suspension articulation if the bed isnt loaded

There are a few on here that have done new springs from GS. Seems the consensus is that it lifts about 3” I believe @watchamakalit is one of the people that has new springs.

Ok sweet. Just to confirm thats roughly 3 in of lift on the 1700lb spring correct?

You are correct.  They seem to settle right around 3-3.5" of lift. I went with re 4" front coils and it leveled my truck.

I got the 1250lb springs expecting to get lift and was very disappointed not to get any lift. After they settled they were about 1 inch lower than stock. I have since added an extra leaf and some slightly longer shackles only to see about .5 above stock height.

My experience says hope for lift but don't expect it. Someone said they may have changed the design because so many were reporting lift on a spring that was supposed to be a stock replacement.

Not sure what your truck is but height also may vary based on short or long bed. Long beds have some extra weight and won't see as much lift as the same springs on a short bed.

My experience was just the opposite, gained a solid 2.5” lift with the 1250 springs. But this was on springs from 2019. Keep in mind, the spring rate doesn’t ultimately determine lift. 1700lb springs simply have a 1700lb rated load capacity. The free arch is another factor on the lift. When last I saw, the free arch of the 1250 and 1700 were the same. But perhaps they have updated that since. General Spring posts on here once in a blue moon and it’s been difficult to nail down the exact springs that are currently available for our trucks. So far the spring packs that have been reported on are:

General spring

4 leaf 1250 spring

5 leaf 1700 spring

5 leaf “military wrap” metric tons

Hells Creek

lift spring pack for sua

Rustys

lift spring pack for sua

& various add a leaf setups and designs from other manufacturers mostly based around XJ leafs.
