What's the easiest way to remove the stuck on gasket adhesive (it's not RVT) from the block side of the oil pan? Engine is still in the truck which is on jack stands so I have to do it on my back. I'm scraping away and getting very tired! Thanks for any advice.

p.s. I do not have air tools.

Yeah pretty much just scrapping it. It takes a little bit of effort. I’m sure there’s some chemical to help but you probably wouldn’t want it raining down on you. I probably spent hours on mine as well.

I've had good luck with the Permatex Gasket Remover.

Apply, let it sit, then scrape.  The gasket kinda comes off in

layers, so you might have to apply until it is all off.

I have not tried the 3M wheels bit they might me

helpful along with the scraping.

Heat gun and a razor blade. Or an electric drill with a wire wheel, but that's gonna throw trash so be careful where it's going.

The best advise given so far  :rotfl2:

Even beyond the bolts. This view is a feeding trough of oil and gasket.

But that's where I keep the bolts so I don't lose them.
