Jesse J Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 I’m swapping steering columns with one from a 92 cherokee but I’m also swapping ignitions so I have the same keys but I for the life of me can not figure out what screw is holding it in. I have reached this point
ghetdjc320 Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Iirc one of those torx screws is a pin that holds the lock cylinder in place.

Minuit Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Changed to a push fastener in 91. Jdog is correct. Move the cylinder around some and it should be apparent. I do not know if you can put an older cylinder in a newer column. It looks like the hole for the screw is present on the column but there is no screw.
MiNi Beast Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Cannot and shouldn't of. Good experience yes but really not worth the effort for just a key. Be amazed what a good locksmith can do for you in that regards.
schardein Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 To clarify what jdog is saying, the vertical tab circled in red is spring loaded. Use a small thin flat blade screw driver, or similar tool, to depress the tab, then pull out the lock cylinder.
scaleless Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 You can put an old cylinder in a new column, yes. The screw hole is there, just bring the screw from the old column.
Jesse J Posted August 13, 2021 Author Posted August 13, 2021 Thanks guys I got the ingition swapped succsefully after 5 attempts of putting it back together and It is installed!
