I’m swapping steering columns with one from a 92 cherokee but I’m also swapping ignitions so I have the same keys but I for the life of me can not figure out what screw is holding it in. I have reached this point

Iirc one of those torx screws is a pin that holds the lock cylinder in place.

Pretty sure you are correct.

It's been a few years for me now, but as I remember is was pretty obvious.

Maybe a pin to push?

Changed to a push fastener in 91. Jdog is correct. Move the cylinder around some and it should be apparent.

I do not know if you can put an older cylinder in a newer column. It looks like the hole for the screw is present on the column but there is no screw.

Cannot and shouldn't of. Good experience yes but really not worth the effort for just a key. Be amazed what a good locksmith can do for you in that regards.

To clarify what jdog is saying, the vertical tab circled in red is spring loaded.  Use a small thin flat blade screw driver, or similar tool, to depress the tab, then pull out the lock cylinder.
