Pat, if you keep it for awhile, my dad has a couple of parts for that thing. he has a brush guard and some grills plus some other little doodads.

this will probably be sticking around.

we shall see :D but, I'd love to get some parts from him. also, I may need help with body work. you're more experienced than I am at it, wanna help?

dude you just scored bigtime! An I mean bigtime!

Its not a QT truck.

a QT truck has a BW 13-39 case, fulltime with optional lo/hi. 1974 was the first year for QT. 1979 was the last year for them. Any wag after that got a 'Quadra-trac' NP 219/229 case. Full-time, limited slip viscous coupler.

A Dana20 is a Part time case, AFAIK the shifter is on the pass side of the trans hump. Fully geared. Awesome case. Front axle is a D-44, you possibly have closed knuckles. Should also have a D-60 rear, full floaty. You've got a helluva rig in its own. The 360 with a Turbo-400 coupled to a D-20 and some good axles makes this truck a great hauler.

Check out IFSJA again, good stuff on there.

Did he find you a D20 adapter? The stock ones break VERY easy. The Borg is okay as long as the chain isn't stretched (mine was so bad my truck could roll 12" back and forth in park!) and Dana 20 is fairly tough. If the TH400 acts up at all, give it a can of STP engine oil treatment (did mine back in '01 when it wouldn't even shift into drive!)

5 lug wheels mean closed knuckle on the pickups (Wagoneers got a couple years of open knuckle D30 or D44 front with 5 lug and drum brakes) I put a J20 axle in mine and flipped the rear shackle (you just need a longer set of shocks and angle shims for the diff to align the driveshaft)

lightned the pic a little

Here's my old one (before I rolled it) working as usual.

no, he didn't find me an adapter...hes just giving me a spare th400 and dana 20 that is intact :brows: so I'll be all set there

as for closed knuckle, I'm sorry I don't know much about anything but MJ's and XJ's and volkswagons. what does that mean? good or bad?

and why did you flip the rear shackle?

that's original miles and interior. not too shabby really.

gonna be swapped to a non-disco front, it's a d35, 3.55 rear so I'm using the matching front. aw4 auto, np242 t-case. all the parts are coming off my 1990 donor.

I'm starting on the 90 parts xj teardown in the next week or so. I may need to do ball joints on the new axle :(

but, next week we're also gettin the MJ started and pulled into the sun and running...he's already put octane booster and new 93 octane fuel in to mix with the old fuel. tires aired up to see how long they'll hold.

you mean the SJ? 'Cause that MJ to put up looks pretty full of air and gas.

Looks good on a CRT screen.

Closed knuckle is old school as in "Give me 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around!" Very wide turning radius. (the ball end design keeps you from making it any better too)

Rear shackle was flipped to clear the 36" tires with a load on.

it won't be coming home for a few months, I don't have a spot to fix it right now with all my other comanche projects and cherokee (yea yea, halfsize i know), but soon as I do this comes home for a t-case re-install, some rust prevention, some minor body repair, and then it will be driven the way it is for a while (if i drive it at all)
