Saw something yesterday that made me think about tiny homes on wheels:

Pretty sure it’s just a home built enclosed trailer for ATVs or sleds or whatnot, but still a concern for some of the ones I’ve seen... it gets real windy sometimes.

I took a drive by that place as well. It was a pretty nice drive, apart from the bit that goes through an active coal mine, but still not something I think I’d want to be doing twice daily, especially given it doesn’t seem like a winter maintenance priority. Not the end of the world either but it’s also not paved the whole way.  And I’m still not convinced about living full-time in a century-old log home, as quaint as it might be.

Buy or build what ya want, but don't toss the moving boxes.  The wife and I were native So Cal's until I retired. We have lived in So.Cal, Montana, Arizona, Colorado and now back in Montana. We've moved 10 times.  We have lived in a comfortable 900 sq ft home to over 3000 sq ft house. Current house is 1750 with a 1700 finished basement for my model trains, model cars, slot racing track and minor ship building, We're on a hill with a clear view of the Bitterroot Mtn's to the north and west and Sapphire Mtn's to the east and south. Attached two car garage and just finished a 25x 40 three car garage.

We still have our moving boxes stored away......

My folks loved the idea of a tiny house but also wanted to travel.  They live full time out of their truck camper now and have for 6 years now and love it.  They have a reserved spot in my shop that they use sometimes (complete with a dump hookup), but it works for them since they're retired and don't need or want much in terms of material possessions.  If anything, having the tiny house helps to avoid the accumulation of "stuff" because you always have to think about whether or not it would fit from a space standpoint, or if you had to give something else up to get it.
