tailgate tuesday

I think I may have won the day for most MJ tailgates with you on the road at one time. 

 

the black 'gate is NOS and was the entire reason for the trip to TX.   but an empty trailer is a wasted trailer so of course I had to swing by all the junkyards I could find in a day and a half.  I went to a junkyard across the street from one of the various u-pulls and asked about any XJs or MJs and then the guy said all they have was a bed. (!)  I ended up saving that bed from becoming a junkyard scrap bin (only a couple axles in it at the time).  in other yards I snagged another pair of 2dr XJ doors, a nice Laredo door panel, some mirrors, various tow hooks, and a bed light amongst other little things.  I may need to hit up that last yard again and snag the longbed bed I saw and maybe that black bench.

 

and no, the nos isn't touching the concrete, there's cardboard under it.     the next time you see it it'll be hangin' on my wall.    I may need to track down a chrome NOS handle now...

oh, I don't have a welder.   I only refurbed a trailer that was given to me by a friend.    (and technically he didn't build it and he didn't get it from the original builder.  lord knows how many people have owned the poor thing)
