eaglescout526
Safari doesn't present an option to switch. As far as pics, it all depends on networks speeds, reception and wifi. I never have issues.

I had assumed I was because that's how it was last I checked (I don't use this phone for much since it's just a tiny tablet to me, not my phone), but it appears samsung somehow superseded something with their sinister shenanigans and so I was using their crappy browser. all better now. IPhone 6 and older aren't supported anymore. Do they have issues with other sites? Was there an update to the CC site recently?

I'm talking about the operating system. iPhone 6 cannot download ios13, iPhone 6s and 6s plus can but will be limited on the features. Basically the phone is at end of life and won't be receiving new updates. It will still function but some things may stop working or slow down over time, especially as websites and apps start to use new things that the old OS can't run or support fully. It also introduces major security issues because it won't be getting security updates. Apple is notorious for "planned obsolescence" with their devices in that they will lock out features quickly to keep people buying the newest device. If you plan on using the phone for anything more than talk and text, you'll have to get a new one before too long.
eaglescout526
I'll get the SE when my 6 dies. So far everything works as it should, I can actually view CC on my iPhone 5c with iOS10 with Safari.
Pete M
I'm likely more familiar with obsolescence than most. my phone-phone is an 8 year old Rugby Pro. it works great as a phone (and calendar/alarm/weather/camera/flashlight/etc). less so as an internet surfboard. like a lot less so. like I can get google results pretty regularly, but clicking a link usually results in failure. But that's just fine with me and my dinosaur ways. if it ever stops being a phone, my S7 active will step up and take its place. on a side note, if anyone is looking for a good first-phone for their kid, the I547 Rugby Pro is about perfect. It's a smart phone (and a pretty good one when new), but it can't run any gaming apps (no processing power to speak of), but it's tough and it's a phone. new batteries are still available plus they dirt cheap. I bought a 3-pack of them on ebay for 30 bucks last year and one was even brand spankin' new (after 7 years of being clumsy I finally broke my screen with a 6ft drop to concrete and needed to swap my guts)

Damn, I just got rid of my Nexus 6 (a phone from 2014 - I bought mine used when I was still in college for $50) and it felt like it was WAY past its best by date at that point. Battery life of about 6 hours (total, not screen time) and a camera that took about 30 seconds to process a picture and failed half of the time anyway. I even tried flashing a lighter OS to it, but the battery was spanked so bad that it couldn't run the processor fast enough even for that. Although I am a lot less of a dinosaur in what I expect from a phone. My main uses for my phone are taking pictures, answering emails, Spotify, and arguing with people on Facebook. Pete M
dang. mine was at least a good phone when new. still works good as a camera but has the typical low-light limitations of that era.
BeaterComanche86
On my iPhone 7 I can switch to desktop view by tapping the address at the top then click the two uppercase A’s to the left of said address and select “request desktop website”. The site looks the same to me but could help with slow upload speeds, also I’m having no issues with uploading pictures but hope this helps. tugboat95
I look at at it thru the TapaTalk app. Although the search feature works better thru a Google search on a laptop. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
gogmorgo
I remember a long time back asking how to switch back to the desktop site, and was told the mobile and desktop sites were now one and the same. I’m running iOS 13.5.1 on an SE I got when they were just coming out. I only “upgraded” to 13 this spring, and had been running iOS 9 before that. Basically got forced into the update. From time to time I’ve had long image upload times, but I’ve associated them with big activity on whatever network I was on and hadn’t really thought too much about it. It also seems to help to upload images individually instead of a bunch at once. The biggest issue running an older phone that I’ve been having is that a lot of web pages seem to be optimized for larger screens, and I can’t always zoom back out or scroll over to the side to see what’s getting cut off. My battery is also getting old, so there’s only 75% of original capacity remaining, and it’d be nice to have a hair more storage space, so now I’ve got the debate over whether I just change the battery or find another phone... except I don’t want a different phone because they’re all HUGE now, so it would be another SE just with more storage. Pete M
batteries tend to be cheap. I bought a 3 pack for like 10 bucks on ebay. memory is also cheap if you have a card slot. processing power is the real kicker with my old phone. even if I updated the OS I'm stuck with the old, arthritic chip. gogmorgo
Yeah, I think I can get a new battery for around $20. But if I got another SE with more than 16GB storage, then I wouldn’t necessarily need to get a new battery. And unfortunately internal storage is not exactly upgradable. I’m sure it could be done, but there’s a certain point where “just get a phone that already has the things you need” becomes a compelling argument. For now this phone still does all the things I need it to do, beyond the battery barely lasting a whole day, so I’m not too concerned.

Sadly with his iphone, even if he gets a cheap battery, they are not easily replaced (it is doable, but not simple), and they don't have card slots. gogmorgo
I read an couple online guides and while “simple” might not be the word I’d use it didn’t exactly look difficult, either.
