silver linings from these trying times

I need a positive thread for this struggle we're all in.  what positives have you found in the last couple weeks?

being forced to stay in this house by myself for a while now, it's forcing me to buckle down and accomplish some of the tasks I've been putting off.  Feels good to get them done. :D    Today I wrapped up running a new 20amp line to a new outlet I installed behind the fridge.  previously the entire kitchen was on a single 15amp circuit.   next up is getting power to the outlets in the basement wall I installed like 5 years ago.   I also rewired my foglights and rotated the tires.

if the weather holds up, I'd like to refresh the exterior of the shed.  been wanting to do that for years!

I'm an introvert by nature.  I hate being around people.  Living alone, I spend most of my time by myself anyway so this isn't a huge change for me.  I usually go into work but sit at my cube with my headphones on and I don't interact with people much because I don't have to.  I could get used to this whole working from home full time gig if I had to.

I usually spend time on the weekends helping friends wrench on their Jeeps.  Instead of that, I've been finding time to do things around the house I put off.  I've been able to organize a lot of stuff.  I've even done a couple of things to my own Jeep.  Little things but useful things.  I do get to do my laundry while I'm working so I don't have to dedicate off time for that, which is nice.

My plan for this weekend is the spring garage cleaning, which I wouldn't have time to do if things were "normal" because I'd be elsewhere doing other things.

So mostly for me, it's the ability to get things done that I usually don't have time to do.

Well, I typically only see my dad a few days a month due to divorced parents, and him living pretty far from my mom. I went to visit my father, and my mom is too scared to take me back since I'm exposed to the virus. Therefore, I get to see my dad for the next few months

See my Focus thread in the projects forum.

I'm also bootlegging supplies to local restaraunts who are all doing takeout only.  They need consumable supplies to keep afloat, and I have ghost inventory to help them.

I'm also trying to get my buddy a job with the State now, in light of all the chaos going on.  He has a skill set in logistics/emergency services that is DESPERATELY needed right now.

No surprise, the Railroads have been deemed an essential business. My work there really has not changed. Most of the time I’m off on my own doing my own engineering thing anyway (inspection, surveying, CAD work, etc)

Big item to note is that while some of the businesses we ship for are negatively affected by it, others are affected positively. I can’t say much more than this publicly, but I can verify that there ARE good things coming from this.

I feel bad because you did a DIY on this but I found this kit sitting at a dealer in IL.

Trailer wiring kit for all AMC models with red tail lamps. So our trucks, Encores and Wagoneers. Really neat find.

Nice find!
