not my adventure, just something I found on the interwebs.  It didn't have any text with it, but I figure the pictures more or less tell the story...

I had to spend 10 hours at my work yesterday (on my day off) to figure out how to fix a malfunctioning fire and security system on the building.  I got home around 1900 last night with a sore @$$ and rotten disposition in general.  I now see how I didn't have the worst day that I could have.

random post from someone on FB.  from his words it sounded like he was involved in the recovery and it happened a few years ago. :dunno:

interesting.

I was able to snag the photo's address and go there directly.  you guys needs to remember to save photos and upload them here. :L:

it appears that the entire truck was up in the air and then the drivers side slipped off but the lift caught the body.

Yeah, that sounds fishy.  If he had lifted it by the frame it wouldn't have come apart like that.  I bet he deliberately lifted by the body, leaving the frame hanging loose, so that he could push it around and line up the bolts to get them started.

there are plenty of train related bad days so I picked a couple of the non-deadly ones.

honestly I'm not sure how I'd go about fixing this one.  anything they do might cause a catastrophic cascade failure.

Having to get a tooth pulled on a Sunday was not one of my favorite days.  Still not as bad as some of the others.

on the same vein as that car engine, here's what can happen when a cylinder blows up in a locomotive:

note the flaw in the middle of the roof

ahh, there's that pesky Cylinder!

and out on the lawn was the power unit that is above it all in the engine.

Have you ever seen the inside of a repair depot for locomotives?  I saw one getting a cylinder rebuilt a few years back.  It was interesting seeing how everything comes apart like that.  It's a truly modular engine.  You can swap out everything in just one cylinder if you need to.

That locomotive was probably fixed and put back into service.

I'd really love to know the story behind this one.  I may start doing some digging.
