Comanche Fun-Runner: LS3, Long Travel IFS, AX-15, D44/9’’

Recommended Posts

Well, not many updates in terms of the adapters and wheels at the machine shop….So I took on some busy work.

Got the front diff stripped down and cleaned, it had legitimiate mud and dirt in there. Luckily, I won't be using any of the old internals, mainly only the housing.

The center section is now cleaned out and has a base coat on it just for rust prevention. When the whole front end build is wrapped up everything will get a fresh coat.

I’m excited to see how yours turns out.

Yep, I have been helping Marc out with his questions throughout his build, he found me awhile back before starting his whole build to get insight…It’s going to be a sweet build

Well, it looks good, going to be stuck inside for the remainder of the week it sounds like waiting on the parts still. That’s alright, the weather will suck here for the next week anyways so I am not complaining..too much lol.

here's a photo in the meantime.

Amazing what 4 years has done to this jeep.

Stock drivetrain, in a small 2 car garage….To Long travel, LS3, Beams, Full float 9’’ rear in a custom workshop. Hoping the next 4 years are just as strong.

Another 4 years building or perhaps 4 years of enjoying..? :driving:

Yes and yes lol, it’ll need a cage after the 4x4 is done, but I’ll definitely be enjoying it in the meantime now that it runs well

  • 4 weeks later...

Finally got some updates, will break into two posts.

The spacers and wheels are nearly done, spacers are done just needs the studs pressed in. They are beefy!

The wheels are on the mill as we speak getting bored and re-drilled.

The way I designed it, I will have optionality to run 5x4.5 or 5x5.5 with these wheels, no real reason why, just a why not thing.

Other update,

I have begun working on the TTB beams, mainly bracing them up and getting them prepped to go in the truck. Really want to take my time with getting these in, I hastily put the I-beams in previously and here we are taking them out due to dissatisfaction lol.

Will be making a cover plate for the truss, and dimple die it. One of the holes won't be dimple died, as it is for the fill plug.

I’d be worried about the dimple dies letting dirt get in there and make it hard to get it out, but it would look good.

It’s going to get drain holes whether dimple dies are there or not

I've embraced the reality that moisture (and dirt) will almost always find it's way into places like this.  Might as well reduce the weight, strengthen the part, and enhance the sexy factor with a dimple :L:
