DDJeep89
1st post here. I bought a 89 Comanche a couple weeks ago that had the typical floor pan rust. I cut out the rust and welded in new floor pans, por-15 and seam seal. I put a underlayment , and new carpet in and it turned out pretty well. I've been looking for some nice molded high sided floor mats to protect my nice new carpet. I'm not having any luck, I'm assuming due to the age of the truck. Has anyone found floor mats that I'm looking for? Or, maybe someone has fabricated a set? I'm at a lost. Any help would be great. I like the forum by the way. It's been very helpful so far. Thanks! DDJeep89
I think I might try to make my own. I'm going come up with an idea and I will take some pics and if all goes well I will share what I come up with.
DDJeep89
So I made my own molded floor mats. I think they turned out pretty good. I took a floor mat that sits under your chair to protect the carpet and make rolling around easy. I had an extra one in my office it measured 36"x48" and was black in color. I took some measurements so the floor mats would come up on all sides a few inches. I used a heat gun to soften the plastic and slowly pushed and shaped the plastic to the shape of my floors. There were a few spots where I couldn't get the floor mat to the contour of the floor and had to make a relief cut which after the mats had cooled I ground the nubs off so I could epoxy the sections that had the relief cuts. I also threw some old Jeep rubber floor mats on top for some extra traction and comfort. This took me about an hour and cost nothing but the epoxy. I did check to see how much the floor mat cost it was about $40.00.

AMCJeepMJ
Looks good, but looks like the mats will be slick should rain/snow from boots or shoes gets on them. Does Rugged Ridge no longer make the deep tread high sided floormats any longer for XJs that are a close fit?... I used them in my MJ for years and they did a respectable job. DDJeep89
I put down some old smaller jeep rubber mats on top of them with Velcro so I wouldn't be slick and to be a little more comfortable on the feet . I also thought about putting the rubber mats on with epoxy or just spraying them with bedliner when I do the bed of my truck this spring.
cody4359
I've found that my weather techs in my f150 lose the slippery feeling after cleaning once the dirt starts to build up and they dull back out. even when they are slick, it's not like I'm trying to stand on them so it doesn't really bug meSent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Strokermjcomanche
My out of the box thinking : It may (will) be expensive , but how about buying a complete MJ carpet kit and use flex seal for the underneath ( to seal the bottom of the mats / carpet ) and then cut them to your desired size ? DDJeep89
They look good. I wish I could get away with carpet ones, but they would be ruined in one winter.

The edges actually look a lot better made though. My mats had a rough life before I got them.
Skorpyo
Won a set of these in a raffle and put them in the comanche. I'm pretty happy with them: https://www.quadratec.com/products/14254_7001_07.htm?gclid=CjwKCAiAsejRBRB3EiwAZft7sIf3I_K1tc5OsgfBZE1CvuAtayF0pM4ro7oPkC9Dv-G-7equlIhXNBoCg0MQAvD_BwE
HOrnbrod
For $50 shipped I'm satisfied. I've got some regulation Mopar slush mats too, but like the carpet better.
