Lowly Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 With a new Jeep pickup coming out in 2018. Do you think the Comanche will lose value or become less appealing?
gogmorgo Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Theres another thread about it. A few members have already made mention of selling their MJ when it comes out. That'll do one of two things. Either the quality of the MJs in question will drive up prices, or else sudden "flooding" of the market will push them down. Given that the plan would be to base it off the Wrangler, I don't really see Jeep calling it a Comanche, though. I expect the value of CJ-8's to go up a bit...
JCole Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I really don't see the new Jeep Truck all that appealing compared to an mj...JMO I an worried it will be more of a mall crawler instead of a trail piece. I know things seem to go that way and even though it is based off the wrangler i believe it will be lacking..Hard to justify buying it just to have to put 10k in it to do what you really want to do...
dustyinthedirt Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I don't see why people would sell their MJ. Just because of a new Cherokee came out the prices of XJ's didnt go up or decrease that i noticed. the new jeep truck could not ever live up to where the MJ is. It would be like saying that a JK is just as good as a CJ-8.
terrawombat Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 They may as well just call it the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Pickup because that's all it's ever going to be.
Pete M Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I vote for "Gladiator" because it's one of the coolest vehicle names ever. :D
Minuit Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 It's going to suck not being able to say "I'm the one with the Jeep truck" and have people know exactly which one I'm talking about anymore :(
gogmorgo Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Arguably that's already the case. There are probably just as many J-trucks kicking around Saskatoon as there are MJ's. +1 on the Gladiator name. Every single Jeep truck out there will fight to the death :D
xjrev10 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 If I'm still working then, I'll be ordering one!
Guest Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Will probably remain the same in it's own little niche category. Except when people come to the shop I work at, I probably won't get too many of them saying "WOW, a real Jeep truck! Haven't seen one of those in forever!" like I normally do. :dunno:
Lowly Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 I would love to read the other thread about it could someone link it?
Lowly Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 As to my own thoughts I would love to have one. But I have put to much time and love into mine to start another project. I share the same feelings loving going to a jeep meet and everyone saying Whoa jeep made a pick up? Lol.

I'd drive the wheels off it factory fresh and enjoy the warranty!
dasbulliwagen Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I really don't beleive that they will put a Wrangler front end on this when it comes out. Hopefully it will look similar to the Nukizer concept... more jeep truck like than Wrangler like.

As for affecting MJ values ... doubtful really, too late.
Minuit Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I think the only effect it'll have on us MJ owners is we'll get less comments to the tune of "Jeep never made a truck!" This Wrangler thing and the Comanche are about as different as they can be while both still being called trucks. I mean, I hope MJ values go up, but I doubt it'll amount to anything.
