DirtyJeepGuy
So ive been building a pure 99 MJ. (Dash, Front Clip, Doors, Motor). I'm wanting to swap taillights. I have the OEM lights. However i want to "update" them. Is there any company out there that makes LED taillight boxes by chance? Or does anyone have a link to the 97-01 XJ lights in the MJ? (Ive seen it on google and can't seem to find a link to it)
Lee21490
I think the only rear light that swaps without a huge issue, is the dakota tail lights. And even with those, You have to flip them upside down for them to fit half decent. AFAIK there is no straight bolt in replacement rear headlights, Other than the stock MJ ones. ScottJeep
Still think someone with metal fab skillz ( which I do not currently really employ ) could make these work... http://www.jcroffroad.com/product/XJTH-96.html Way back I even emailed asking if they would send a pair for me to work with ( have a fab shop next to me at work ). ZERO REPLY Really like this idea...http://www.thor4x4.com/thorguardsinstallation.pdf The full box for the lights really made me think. The non-reply guys have some like this as well and I like the ones with the handle branch/tree guard to help my old butt get up into the truck. My current non-paint/I don't care paint theme would be perfect with these.
dunnc1991
There was a Comanche for sale a few years back that they had grafted the 97+ XJ tails into the bed. Looked good imo, another option depending on your fab skills.
ScottJeep
THIS ONE? http://www.justacargeek.com/2009/11/1997-jeep-comanche-coolest-comanche-i.html
91Pioneer
Ew that's ugly IMHO plus they removed the cab "vents".
Minuit
they removed the cab "vents". That one thing alone ruins it.

Showed up on here a few times several years ago. No cab vents kills it, but the body work seemsto be good working those tails in. I'd like to see it in person though. Eagle
I think the only rear light that swaps without a huge issue, is the dakota tail lights. And even with those, You have to flip them upside down for them to fit half decent. Dakota tails look similar, but they aren't even close in any dimension. Making them fit would be as much or more work as fitting '00 Cherokee tails. Here are Pete's photos to prove it: http://comancheclub.com/topic/46115-dakota-replacement-taillights/
mysteed
I believe I remember that there was a member on here who adapted JK tail lights but I never saw pics. You can make pretty much anything work if you're willing to put in the time and effort.

CJ's 89 MJ
They will look like this. they are selling them for $150. You can find them on Facebook.
ggcnash
Man, I'm happy they are making these for mjs, but these are not something I would personally buy. I like the idea of the boxes with mounting holes, or just boxes and I'll cut my own lights in.
yellaheep
Agreed. Those are hideous. Looks like an electric hot dog grill. Hit the trails in a wooded area and you're gonna bring home a ton of debris falling behind that grillwork, or go muddin' and it's gonna fill up with dirt & goo. Then you gotta take apart the assembly to clean it out. Nope. Won't be a buyer. Couldn't if I wanted to..... I don't do Facebook. I'm hoping someone will make them like the JCR boxes for XJ's........ Recessed. No rubber gaskets around the lights. Classy and smart. But even something like this would be awesome. Cheaper too.
91Pioneer
Man those are fugly. You couldn't pay me $150 to put them on my truck.
ggcnash
I'm with yellaheep on this one build some simple boxes that follow the body lines
shelbyluvv
I suggested something like the JCR boxes in another thread he had as well. The ones he had made may work for him but I would never put them on my trucks.
DirtyJeepGuy
I havent bought the T&M ones. I'm trying to get mikey to make boxes flush with the beds. The covers would get in my way. And id rather take a chance with the lights busting then get tickets by police.
