m proud to introduce a new intake to my family. Meet "Russel" A rough, beaten and battered piece of American History with a severe stage of Northeast skin fever (aka rust!). don't let the rough exterior completely scare ya though, underneath is a still solid 1986 chassis and a good running 2.5, 4 cylinder. Couldnt let this fella just have his life ended prematurely in the grasp of a crusher so hopefully down the road some former glory will be restored to this well decorated Veteran.

Sometimes it feels like walking around the animal shelters and seeing all the broken and abused puppies, right? So hard not to save them all. Rusty MJs need lovin' too!   :D Really too bad with this one... that's got to be my favorite graphics on these. I absolutely hate seeing the condition that vehicles get in the north espicially when they have low(ish) miles.

Nice going, BJ! I think it's beautiful! Sure makes me want another rusty one.

Only 125k miles on this fella too!......The rust is a shame, ive watched this truck around town for years and the owner got a hold of me a few weeks ago contemplating getting rid of it (after keeping a CC Card i left him 3 years ago ;) ), I showed interest and said take your time on your decision, He purchased it from a dealer in 1989 (have original paperwork!). The organ donor idea had crossed my mind originally but I just can't bring myself to tear apart this 1 after its history.... He called me this morning and said, its yours if ya want it, $300 and a short trip home and here it is....For now I'm just gonna hold onto it and plan someday in the future to possibly bring back some of its glory. Afterall it is an 86! and my 1st 4 cylinder MJ!

O Yeah for the record, ironically he replaced it with a 92 Dakota! lol

see, to me that truck would make a great winter beater.  I'd fix some of the rust, but wouldn't get too crazy with it.  Then I'd continue to drive it in the snow so I could spare my other rigs from the salt exposure.  that was the plan with my 90 at least.

  • 11 months later...

I still have it, I pretty much just parked it beside the garage and there it sits for now. Would like to get a plow setup and mount a spreader on the back and use it as a utility vehicle for my quarter mile driveway but for now it's taking a back seat to the J20 project.
