brownscampmj Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I am running 35s on my Dana 30 with a yri link long arm from TNT customs. The manche dose great on the trail but it's time for manual locking and get away from the crap vacuum.
BebopComanche Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 If I believed in coincidence, I would say my looking at items related to this subject today would be one. But I don't believe in coincidence. However, I have seen Posi-Lock recommended on a few forums in my searching today.Have a link: http://4x4posi-lok.com/app_jeep.html
MuddFoot Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 id just put a one piece shaft in and call it done with new seals. the cost of the kit for hubs you could just find a dana 44 with hubs and put it under your truck.
JeepcoMJ Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 There are NO manual locking hub kits available on the market right now. They are no longer produced as they did not sell, and were not ever a factory option on any jeep with 5x4.5 bolt pattern

JeepcoMJ Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I stand corrected...on the aftermarket availability Of course, find me a Dana 30 worth spending that much on....there isn't one.
foreman1063 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Looks like a nice kit but I'd have a hard time sinking $1300 into a d30.
Jeep Driver Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 It will take you 5 years of driving to recoup your costs in gas. Apparently you are stuck with their rotors and it looks like factory wheels are out of the question. Have at it.
Blue XJ Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 There are NO manual locking hub kits available on the market right now. They are no longer produced as they did not sell, and were not ever a factory option on any jeep with 5x4.5 bolt pattern There are 3 or 4 companies that sell them aftermarket. They use Ranger hubs. I grabbed the Warn kit about 10 years ago for only a couple dollars, its still going strong. I have the 5x4.5 kit.
Incommando Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I don't think locking hubs are the answer for the OP. If all that you want to do is get away from the vacuum actuated CAD then just do a one piece axle conversion, get a posi-lok or build one yourself from directions available from the internet, or swap in a later one-piece axle assembly from a later XJ. That kit is stupid expensive.
cruiser54 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Or this? http://comancheclub.com/topic/17377-cad-fix-1/
Eagle Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Dana-30-Locking-Hub-Conversion-Kit-5-x4-5-Jeep-TJ-Jeep-XJ-and-Jeep-YJ-/161154246749?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item25858aa85d&vxp=mtr hubs YIKES! $1300, plus labor. You can manually lock the front axle disconnect for free, in about a half hour. As described in Cruiser's link. For what it's worth, this manually (and permanently) does exactly the same thing as the Posi-Lock, for no cost and without an unreliable cable actuator. Done.
Rockfrog Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Or for $50-100 you can swap a later XJ axle (or if earlier a limited) in there with no issues. He'll, I run an 89 limited housing under my 2000 XJ on 35s .... Got it for $25 complete ... Sold the guts for $50.
