akamcbird Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 well i tboned a midsized 4 door sedan (to much damage to tell make and model)yesterday ill be going to the wreckingyard tomarow to asses the damage from what i remember on scene the radiator\fan,hood,quarters, steering is all trash...i hit the center of the doors on the driver side at 50mph this accident was not my fault. both elderly occupants of the other vehicle went streight to the hospital...critical w\ head injuries,i just got a curticey call from one of the officers saying they ll be ok. i walked away with a sore wrist and shoulder but ok otherwise here is a pic of what she was '86...2.8v6...just put about $1500 into it in the last week...what a bummer
feerocknok Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Glad to hear everyone'll come out of it okay. Sorry to hear that it happened though. What exactly is messed up with the steering? Hope your "frame"'s alright. Again, glad to hear you're okay.
88swampedmj Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 sorry to hear that man, i hope you get it fixed up or another.. i went to the junkyard the other day and saw 2 mjs one looked like it hit a wall.. glad your ok too and the other people...
akamcbird Posted May 6, 2007 Author Posted May 6, 2007 the steering rods had broken and were on the ground(all of which were to be replaced today and the replacements are in the garage) the front x-member is bent good but well see ill try to post pics tomarow of the carnage.
akamcbird Posted May 7, 2007 Author Posted May 7, 2007 sorry no pics today, as my truck is being held as evidance(there was a fatality) ill keep you posted
Twisty Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 sorry no pics today, as my truck is being held as evidance(there was a fatality) ill keep you posted Holy crap. I'd have trouble sleeping at night if I were in your shoes
speed_racer Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 How do you just "throw" that out there like that... "there was a fatality"... Seems if I were you I'd be stating a lil more as to why it wasnt my fault then the fact that they were elderly... Not bashing you... but they check EVERYTHING these days!!
akamcbird Posted May 8, 2007 Author Posted May 8, 2007 the post started with the few fact i had the line not my fault was a way of not explaining the whole situation...he pulled in front of me thats it the forums are just a distraction because i do feel at fault my truk hit their car. how should i have "thrown" that out there?i got the curtisy call sun and the mon news paper shed the truth "checking everything" doesnt change the facts.
comancheman Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 wow man I'm sorry this all happened to you but don't take it so hard, accidents happen if its not your fault then theres nothin you couldve done. i hope everything works out for u. don't beat yourself up to much
DirtyComanche Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 That's a $#!&ty deal. But the unfortunate truth is that things like that happen.
DirtyComanche Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 I'd fix it, but I have the means... Well, I'd probably not 'fix' it per se.
Oizarod115 Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 was there no bumper on it? it doesnt look as bad as i'd expect for a 50mph crash. but OUCH! still
akamcbird Posted May 12, 2007 Author Posted May 12, 2007 no front bumper...i thaught it should look worse off than it is anything worth taking??? the adjuster offered m e an hour to yank what i can i would have liked the front ds that saw 2 minutes of drive time but by the looks of the lca its proly trash i hope to grab the tires (best to sacrifice some crappier rubber)but the truck will require tires for this 1 hour deal tailgait...tail lights, i may just chop the back of the bed off anything elce?
CEThomas Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 With hit like that just pull what you can for the next one or sale on e-bay to help fund the next one. Hard to tell what you would find when you started working on it  Charles
pingpong Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 By the looks of it I am going to say the frame is bent. Unless you got the skills to fix it, or the money to pay to have it straightened... I would send it on its way
akamcbird Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 the replacement... 1990 comanche eliminator swb 4.0,ax15,np231 80k mi. $2000 w\an extra set of aftermarket aloys 1 owner and garagedits entire life
