Although I can't understand what would be better on gas mileage and "AWD" then a 2.5L MJ, this guy really wants to trade... and it won't come up in any searches because he doesn't know what this "1986 Jeep 4x4 truck" is called... :huh???: http://denver.craigslist.org/bar/1526827382.html

Cool. Colorado is kind of crappy for CL- everybody thinks their junk is gold. Not just Craigslist, here is a not atypical ad from Autotrader, private seller that's pretty close to me: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?c ... =241681781 $25000 for a stock charcoal V8 with 70K on the ticker. Oh, wait there are new brake pads... I'm suprised he's not asking more. OK, well that's pretty high but never-the-less, shopping around here is tough. There is a pretty big jump in price from 100K miles. There are a number of 125K for around $9,000 but typically something as low as 70K will be listed for $16,000. 100K comes in right around $12,500... stuff I can't get Edmunds to match up to. This is not new: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9502 They say people are hurting but we just had to offer $5000 over and still barely beat another couple out on buying a house... this is after 1.5 years of looking and getting beat on 5 different offers. After about the fourth one sold out from under us I started believing my realtor when he said "there is another offer". Frankly, I miss the midwest where people understand the value of a buyer when times are tough. People don't want to deal around here so I'm probably going to go out of state and eat the vehicle shipping. I know, I know, it sounds like a whine but it's more: :wall: and :headpop:

Been there done that- endured a new '01 White XJ for five years as some kind of sick punishment for missing a 96 Upcountry package because we didn't have cash in hand on a Sunday... Not only does she not want the same thing, but the Jeep engineers managed to make the cabin space really small in 97, the back doors (like all 4 door XJs) were horrible. I wouldn't take a free XJ from after 1996 if I had to drive a Honda fit instead... Anyway, it's a WJ or an FJ Cruiser. I just thought there would be a nice comancheclub-esque forum somewhere so I could avoid cesspools like JeepForum.

Well, my wife isn't going in for an auto MJ so I need to buy her another Jeep. She really likes the Grand Cherokee WJ, which I think ran from 1999 to 2005. The question is, where is a good place to find one? Any issues I should be concerned about, apart from it not coming with a pickup option?
-
If that's a 2.8 (the V6) nothing fits... I loved my 86 XJ but all the aftermarket fits 88 and up. That motor is a boat anchor too. I put a 3.4 in which was a good engine, but skid plates, lifts, etc were always a problem fitting with the cross member and stuff.

The way I read it she'll send a pic of her for a pic of a nice vehicle. Nothing the PD should get upset about, people trade pics on CL all the time.
-
Sorry, forgot I had gallery registration turned on. Should be fixed.

Got sucked in by the J-Truck...

That is very nice looking. I like the reverse angle and it looks stable side to side as it goes out to the wheel humps. Now you need to get a canoe that ain't ugly as sin!
-
Are you adding some kind of roof rack to support the middle of the canoe? If so I think you can lose the D-ring to vertical support brackets. The front can only be to support the weight of the canoe front, and not the twist.

The truck is long gone and the lift is for sale in Indiana. What pictures are you looking for? -
Ah ha! Full Metal Challenge - hosted by Henry Rollins!

No not JY wars, although that was awesome despite "seeding" the JY. My favorite was when the team tore down their quad runner to figure out the wiring on a honda engine they pulled from the JY... no it was some celebrity host, and the challenges were multiple, the teams built the rigs before showing up with a capped budget- the one I remember best was this sweet chassis buggy with dana 60s that belonged to a team of police...

I was a boy scout once, I got kicked for eating out a... uh never mind. Hey, I always wondered if there is an apperance fee for showing up on pinks- like the loser never seems upset enough about losing their ride I think it must be like People's Court where they get $$ regardless and it makes up for losing the ride. Either that or I wonder if they really take the rides- there was some show where two teams built sort of offroady vehicles and they did challenges (like pushing a steel ball into a goal) and at the end the losers vehicle was supposedly crushed & burned, but it was so obviously fake. Wish I could think of the name. It was on around the same time Monster Garage was big...

I know. 3 photos up looks closely at how the bumper is attached to the frame... Unfortunately it took me a week to get these photos out of him so additional angles are unlikely unless I show an interest. Here are the welds close up: A pillar passenger B pillar passenger The bar across the rear, passenger again

I don't think those are goats- and I don't think they're walking, or ever will be again. Steak anyone? -
Finally got the photos- he's a friend so what do you think is fair? Auto, 70K, has all interior parts...
-
Guy's never heard of a reserve I guess. Takes all kinds.

At the flea market here in Denver people stand in line to get that clamato + bud mix, although they mix it fresh I think. Sounds disgusting, but man it was selling like hot cakes.
-
The cage was built by a professional, about $3000, fully welded. Not sure if it was HREW or DOM but it was done by a shop in California.
-
Imagine how I feel- I have yet to see it and I'm ready to drive to LA. My only satisfaction is to torment y'all.

My friend has a 92 XJ with 70K miles and an auto. I've been looking for a reliable deal and I think this might be it- however I don't know how much to offer and he doesn't know how much it's worth. He had a cage put in 7 years ago, bumpers, rock rails and a tire carrier built right. Then he bought something else and it's been sitting. It's been tuned up with new belts, hoses, etc. in the last 5 months. The bad news is it's bone stock aside from the cage & bumpers, the body was completely primered and the primer is starting to surface rust, and the interior is removed save for the driver's seat- it's all there, just sitting in the back. There might be some mold smell too. The dilemma is- I want to buy it and he wants to sell, but neither of us is sure how much it's worth. I don't want to take advantage because he's a friend, but I also don't want to give him $1000 because we're both ignorant. So- comments, suggestions? I'm all over the board but I won't have photos until this weekend so any input is welcome.

technique is more important than product. PSP works great and Photoshop can botch anything just as bad. For basic coloring try making a new layer that has a block that is the shape of your truck paint. Call it "Base Paint" and don't alter it. Then copy that layer and call the copy "Pink". Turn off the "Base Paint" layer. Fill the solid section on "Pink" with red or pink and then turn down the transparency of the layer to allow the truck to come through. Repeat for "Orange", "Hot Pink" whatever, turning off all layers except the color you're working with and the base truck. It won't win any awards, but if you squint you can get an idea how your truck might look.
