That C looks bent at the axle tube to me too.

Lift is going to kill your gas mileage. Focus on the MJ... Focus on the MJ... Focus on the MJ... uh, that and body armor... keep that pretty green all straight.

Swapping tranny's is no fun for some of us, and that's the part where people usually go "huh?" because the 2wd tranny output is as different from the 4wd as an icecream cone from a donut...

71 and posting on the Internet... that's what's stunning. :) Where in OR are you? I own property in Wolf Creek, need to get up there this year...

New seats, what options do we have?
jage replied to Rob S's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I bought those plastic molded seats b/c they were like $50 each and they s#cked. Like sitting on an old tire was better. I tried XJ seats and they were too tall. I've heard suspension seats are the way to go for trail, but getting in and out can be difficult as the sides are raised and without a tilt that doesn't leave much room. 6'0" with XJ "curved" on MJ bench brackets Here's some blah blah blah I did when trying to have a seat discussion on JeepForum.com... And the bad plastic seats... <------- DIRT CAT!!!!! -
You're talkin my language. The doctor says I've got the back of a 55 year old. It kills me that I can't wrench on my own rig anymore.

Man that near brought a tear to my eye. I miss my XJ... just goes to show you get to belivin that 35s and all that crap is necessary and forget how exciting and capable near stock is.... sigh... still I long to run 37s or 38s Also I wish I could get my wife to drive!

I keep seeing these used sandrails on CL for between 12K and 16K... am I missing something? I mean I'm a diehard 4wd guy, but for 15K I'd think you should get a lot more than a tube chassis, 2 seats and a decked out motor... is it just a sandrail culture thing or what?

Staun Internal Beadlocks Install
jage replied to holeski's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hey I was wondering about these, and without me bothering to read 7 pages of information... can you run normal street pressure in your tires with these, or do they replace the stem and leave the tires virtually pressureless? Meaning, would they work on a DD? -
could it be corrosion or bad contacts in the headlight plug?
-
Did you cut far enough down that you lost the inside handle too? You could get some sweet electric poppers like they do on the lowriders... haha.
-
Don't you think your visibility would be improved if you opened the door instead of covering it A-Team style? sorry couldn't resist :) it was that or rivets

You're saying that the one on the left became the one on the right through SANDING? It's not like the fender flares are a solid hunk of plastic... I guess as the mythbusters say, it's plausible. http://www.jage.com/offsite/comancheclub/misc/fenders_really.jpg I'd sure like to see some "in progress" shots if someone tries this, but I agree they don't quite look like the newer XJ flares--> http://www.cityofgreer.org/client_resources/departments/fire/car%2010%20crop.jpg

Could you put a paddle in? I'm not remembering how the inside of the MJ door goes...

Not my work but I saved this because I thought it was a good solution...

So... what if someone took what DirtyComanche said as gospel....

If the pigeons are always in flight , then yes if not then no Wrong... for every action = and opposite reaction. The lift of the birds = weight in the plane. 4.5 years of engineering school that!

Indiana is like that. My 00 TJ rusted as I drove it off the lot. My XJ...back in the day I spent 2 months in my parent's driveway lifting it by myself with hand tools. I had to cut through at least 3 LCA and spring bolts with this:  What a PITA!

I thought I remember seeing someone selling a plug ready made for emergency sealing of the Tcase after driveshaft removal... now all I can find is like 3 different patents on the same thing. And a rubi won't leak because it's not a slip yoke tcase.

It's a Yakima that my brother gave me, slightly modified to make a tire rack, but you should be just fine as far as over the cab support.
-
I have to remember that: Since everyone's doing it, it must be safe. :brows:

Not true if it uses the LCA (lower control arm) mounts as the MJ has extra bracing. Also if the kit requires cutting them, well now is a good time to think about a plasma cutter!
