I hate to say it, but i'm moving away from the MJ, found out last week that it would run more to get the engine fixed than it would be worth, even if i did an engine swap from a wreck. Going tomorrow to pick up a 00 Silverado tomorrow after work, I went to the lot to look at a cherokee sport but it caught my eye. Someday i'll be back. someday.

It's a sad moment but I guess it happens to all of us. I've been thinking of selling my MJ to free up a bit of cash, get a beater and save money on fuel, but I don't think I could get enough for my 300,000 mile MJ needing much work to make it worthwhile. Probably the only reason it hasn't happened yet.

Just don't let your MJ go to a wrecker.

Say you spend 1500 on a beater and gain 10 MPG. You get a beater with unknown issues that may not really be in better shape than your MJ and it would take a year at 12,000 miles of driving and $4 a gallon gas. Just a thought...

That's exactly it. Sort of. Substitute the fact that I won't be able to sell my MJ in current condition for more that $700 (and it's worth many times that to me), and that gas costs $5/gallon up here... If I could get $2500 for my MJ, I could probably pull it off, but with so many miles on the clock and it basically needing the entire drivetrain redone, well... not really going to happen.

You would be hard pressed to find a CC member who could sell his MJ for what he has into it, let alone make a profit. Most of us take a financial beating when we sell but it is what it is. I've sold 4 of my 5 Comanches in the past couple years and am now going to sell the last one I have, which is the Street Comanche. I'm sure to lose money but I can't justify spending any more on these old trucks unless I win a lottery.

what's wrong with the engine?

Had a sudden parting of the ways with the oil, still havent found where it happened. My brother took it out since he knows more about engines than I do and came back saying that it spun a bearing and probably has metal shavings floating around now. Its still drivable but no idea for how long. It sounds worse than three cats and a dog fighting over a dead bird.

I bought a beater Focus in April for $2500

27-30mpg vs 13-15 in the MJ

or almost exactly double the mileage.

At 100+ miles a day commute,

just stopping for gas less times a week would have been worth the $2500 to me by itself.

300 miles per tank vs 220ish

Haha Is  that bad? Hey how much for the mj?

I'd be willing to try putting it up for sale here first. Where are you located? I was thinking 6-700

I google mapped your location way too for for me. I'm 30 mins north San Diego. Good price though.

:shake: LOL youre getting a chevy. Have fun with those repair bills  ;)

Just kidding... But I too have been toying with the idea of selling my MJ. But that's ONLY because it doesnt have a back seat (lack of space).
