Mj Hood Options & Ideas

Recommended Posts

Hello,  I'm planning on replacing my Hood as part of my 88' to 98' swap as my hood is cracked and sad.  I'm keeping the stock style 88' front end, but using a Briarwood Grill.  I'd like to find or build a cool hood that's not stock. Any Ideas?  maybe someone's done vents or scoops, etc.?  :dunno:

I'm also considering changing the jeep too dark blue with a Waggoneer stripe.

Here's what the existing hood / nose looks like, except I added a stripe up the middle.

I'm thinking about getting one of these.

I had some vents in the hood of my old '91, should be pics in the thread link of my signature. Those vents are sort of hard to find but quadratec and some other places have a ton vents for the xj hood.

It's an easy enough hood to make, though I guess I should have mentioned the one I might be getting is from a friend since they aren't being made anymore. Basically OP was looking for hood ideas, figured I'd post that up. Honestly not sure why they quit making them but some companies are more stupid than others.

They "damaged" the mold and decided that it was not profitable to replace the mold.   Atleast that's the scuttle since 09 in the forums.   It was pretty expensive even before freight.  So I don't know how many they've actually sold.  I look at every cherokee I see in JY for that hood.

If the passenger wants to see where he's going, have him stick his head out the window. That's why they were designed to be rolled down. Could always get ambitious and remount the wipers above the windshield.

Good point. Gus the Cocker Spaniel, my most frequent passenger, doesn't give a damn. His head is always sticking out the window rain or shine with his ears flapping and a big smile on his face.

I had a Reflexxion hood too for a while. Got it through 4 Wheel Parts, so there were no freight charges. I put the hood on along with some Redline Tuning hood struts. I would just let the hood rest on the wiper arm very gently. I ended up trading it to a buddy of mine in exchange for some axle work. So there is one of these hoods up in Washington state...somewhere.

Yes, did the same thing by limiting the travel of the Redline struts. Still didn't open far enough for me. Found it more convenient to just pop off the wiper arm.
