ajohnson928
When I drove TJs I would always give and receive a little wave from other TJ & YJ owners. Out of habit I did it today to another MJ and they looked at me like I had 2 heads. Is that reserved strictly for the Wrangler crowd or was the other driver out of the loop? rmoore1031
They are outta the loop. "It's a Jeep thing." "Jeep wave." Doesn't mean only wranglers. I have received only a few waves while driving my XJ.
Geonovast
I used to do it quite a bit, but pretty much stopped when I moved to MO, since all I got was weird look.

TheDirtyJeep401
Moet people in newer jeeps here don't wave, they just get a jeep because they are rich and thats it. They never wave at me. But people in Cjs and some cherokees wave at me. Had one guy pretty much hang out of his MJ and pointed to mine and gave me a thubs up. Another guy in a CJ was trying to downsift quickly to wave at me. Just seems like it has to be lifted with the off road look in order for people to wave at me. Although I saw a dude that put 23 inch rims on a XJ, looked horrible. Definatly didnt wave at me.
onlyinajeep726
I wave at most any modified Jeep. Stock JK drivers I won't waste my time, nor any of the Compass or Patriot drivers, as those are generally soccer moms lol. I get a lot of waves from XJ owners (since I mostly drive an XJ) and some YJ/TJ/LJ owners. I even had a guy wave at me in an SJ, that was pretty cool. NO Jeep should have rims bigger than 17" and I only say that because some stock rims are 17". After that, it just looks retarded. </rant>
TheDirtyJeep401
:agree: That is not what a Jeep is made for. In my opinion
H3RESQ
So, I have found that most "wavers" are in TJ's (and now JK's) and most often they are stock or mild built. Its very similar to bikers. Harley guys only wave at Harley guys most often and ignore anybody that waves at them that is not on a Harley. Otherwise, most bikers wave at most bikers. So, Jeep has become the same. True (not mallcrawlers) built Jeeps to tend to wave at other built jeeps, but not so much at genral TJ's, etc. I get waved out from just about anyone in an XJ, a bit of TJ's and JK's. Honestly most just break there necks or give a big thumbs up when they see my MJ. Most interesting though is this one guy here in town that has a AEV TJ. You can tell it has been used a little and taken out. Funny cause it has all the AEV stuff, bumpers, wheels, highline kit etc. I have seen him 15-20 times and never even made eye contact, he just seems like when he see's another jeep he specifically looks straight ahead and ignores it. Its weird. And I have seen him driving both my built grand Cherokee a few years ago, and in my MJ. All that said, I tend to just nod....but will always lift a hand in response to being waved at. Its just polite ya know.
HOrnbrod
So, people here are friendly, not a bunch of snobbish a$$rags. Jeepers wave at other Jeepers be it mild or wild or even an unbuilt JK. Bikers do the same, be it a Harley or an MZ. As I do too whichever Jeep or bike I'm driving or riding. Guess we haven't reached the higher levels of snobbishness yet of who or whom deserves a wave. Hope we never do. EDIT: Forgot to Italicize.
GirsMJ86
Where I'm at most people just wave. A lot of farmers though so that's why I suppose. I would wave whether I was in my K-10, J10, MJ, or driving the Eclipse or Talon. I've not really noticed a true "jeep wave" for a long time though. gogmorgo
Two fingered salute off the wheel at any jeep I see. Full on waving like a maniac at the very few other MJ's I've seen.

I've only ever had one XJ guy wave back and I figured out he's over on NAXJA so he understands.

I shrug it off and return to my enjoyable drive.
AeroNautical
I had a strange occurrence, an older lady, probably in her 60s, driving a red mini van went out of her way to wave at me. I get alot of waves like that, from all kinds of vehicles. I really doubt it's because I'm driving an MJ, it's more because of my paint job and bumper sticker placements I'm sure, haha.
