JWP241
Hey all, Ran across this site a couple years ago, and was surprised that there was such a community of Comanche enthusiasts out there! Been browsing around the boards for awhile, and thought I'd join in...I came across a picture of my Comanche right after I got it back in the early '90s, thought I'd share. Got it from a radio station which had used it as a station vehicle for some promotions. It's a 1991, 2wd, 4cyl, 4 speed:
Alexia
I recognized those rims and then the saw the sticker and the front lip! Is it a Street Comanche or just one with aftermarket Archer parts?
neohic
Is that WAKX from the Duluth area? Any current pictures? Still have the ARE wheels under it? What other Archer parts are on it?... and do you need to sell any of them? :brows: ... I like your truck.

JWP241
Archers lowered it too, but besides that no other mods. Yup still have the ARE wheels.
neohic
Any current pictures? :redX: What was used to lower the truck? Does it have their fiberglass rear leafs? Tire size?... I still like your truck. :D
JWP241
Tires are 15", not sure the exact size offhand. It has lowering blocks in the back, no fiberglass rear leafs. It's a lowering kit of some kind, I have info in the glove box but it's in storage for the winter. Been trying to keep it out of the salt lately to slow its return to the earth. Miller Hill Jeep. Its now a Subaru dealer and the chysler/dodge/jeep/ram dealer is across the highway. Ive looked at this picture a few times but just noticed the massive "Miller Hill Jeep Eagle Isuzu" on the side..

That and if you could find out the tire size, it would be much appreciated. The sidewall to wheel ratio looks perfect for that truck! Ben, imagine the heart attack you would have had if this thing passed you going the opposite direction on some highway in MN... Rob :rotf: If there wasn't a convenient turn around, I'd probably jump the ditch and center median, swerve through any on coming traffic, frantically flash my lights to try and get his attention, all before opening the passenger door and push out whoever might be sitting there in a effort to save weight and go faster. . :MJ 1: . JWP241... a member since 2011 and only a few posts?... only one of which is a picture of this beautiful piece of local and racing history?! Not sure if this is the one, but when I was at Archer Racing, John mentioned their old shop truck that was red, full side skirts, lowered, and a 2.5 that he still sees roaming around from time to time. Not trying to over whelm you, but It's comforting to know that amazing trucks like this still exist! I'm pretty sure I'm just about ready to have a heart attack everytime I come here and see an update on this thread! Not sure what would happen if I came here and their were some added pictures...
JWP241
Tires are P215/65/R15. Also I think the lowering kit was from Quickor, I found a post on another board and I'm pretty sure that's it. http://autos.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/jeepcomanche/message/15075?o=1&d=-

AMCJeepMJ
On a somewhat related topic, I e-mailed American Racing (A.R.E) this week about the wheels on this rig (sent them the first pic in the thread) and the SCCA Comanche, and they did confirm they were the manufacturer, but the wheels have not been produced in over 20 years and they no longer have them in stock. I would not anticipate being able to get these wheels again; treat them like gold as you aren't going to get a replacement if you go curb bashing. xjrev10
Those came off a jeep that was from Two Harbors, MN. It was a 87 4x4 with a 2.5. Buddy of mine bought it for 250 bucks. It was extremely rusty; we named it the "Rusty Manche." Today, just the fact that those wheels where on there and the location from where the truck came from, makes me even more curious about its history.. The truck also had 2 vin numbers; one glued on top of the other on the dash.... ;)
