86custom
I have a 2.5 86 manche. What is a good pug to use to burn out the carbon in the cylinders. Out here in California I have gotten some lousy fuel lately and want to clean up the insides before a smog in January. Any suggestions other than changing the 4 to a 6? huck731
If I may also interject into this thread, what is a good plug to use period on the 2.5? I prefer NGK plugs, but that has been in vw's and honda motorcycles.
mvusse
The 2.5 is somewhat related to the 4.0, but I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I know the 4.0 seems to like the good old fashioned copper Champions best.
Zenobian_84
Ran Champions in the 2.5 for a year until I did a tune-up last week. Swapped to Autolites to see if there's any noticable difference. I haven't noticed any. I would just go with Champions, honestly. It's what AMC recommended in my owner's manual from way back when, so there has to be some justification for it. :dunno:
AMCJeepMJ
I've been running Bosch Platinums for two years and they work just fine in my 2.5.
velco
Have been running Bosch Platinums also in one of my 4.0 litres...100,000 K now...running like a clock. My other 4 litre runs oem champions also running nice and smooth. Time to change out the Bosch, have some NGK platinums to test. I think the big thing with platinum is the duration, they last twice + as long as copper although some people or engines seem to have problems with them. cruiser54
You can never go wrong with NGKs no matter what it is.
Eagle
IMHO the copper Champion truck plugs are a good second choice, but standard NGKs (not platinum) are best in the XJ/MJ engines.
